prindeck v0.1.0 — first public release

prindeck is a Linux control panel for the Brother MFC-L2710DW — device status,
toner and drum levels, scanning, printing and desktop notifications in one
native app. It speaks open protocols only (eSCL, SNMP, CUPS): no vendor
drivers, no binary blobs.

Highlights

• Scan — platen or automatic document feeder, 100–600 dpi, colour or
  grayscale, straight to PDF or JPEG; cancelling an ADF job mid-stack keeps the
  pages already received.
• Overview — live SNMP status: toner and drum percentages, page and duplex
  counters, drum pages left, a 90-day history chart and a toner-pages estimate.
• Print — pick or drop a file, set copies and duplex, send it through your
  existing CUPS queue and watch the job list with per-job cancel.
• Stays out of the way — tray icon with a status colour, background
  polling, notifications for low supplies and outages, optional autostart.
• Ten languages — English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish,
  Portuguese (Brazil), Chinese (Simplified), Japanese and Arabic with a full
  right-to-left layout; unsupported locales fall back to English.

No .rpm in this release — Fedora/RHEL users can run the AppImage meanwhile;
an .rpm ships from v0.1.1.

Packages are built on Ubuntu 26.04; current Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora are the
intended targets. On older distributions,
build from source.

Known limitations

• Offline-state UX: when the printer is unreachable, the Scan screen
  renders empty option lists with stacked error banners, and the Overview
  collapses consumables and counters to dashes instead of keeping the last
  known values — a cleanup pass is planned for v0.1.x.
• Translations: English, Russian and Ukrainian are maintainer-verified;
  Arabic, Japanese and Chinese ship as community drafts and corrections are
  very welcome.
• No .rpm yet (see Downloads).

Security note

One advisory is open: RUSTSEC-2024-0429
(glib, medium) — upstream-blocked on the Tauri gtk migration
(tauri#16264); the
vulnerable code path is unused by prindeck.
