added coalesce to default to empty string when latest_update is empty

Don't think this is right still I've taken a incident through the life cycle. Customer lifecycle shows as "fixed" Component has not updated back to Operational Have to manually edit the incident to mark as Fixed to get it to clear the Status on the Component
