CatProof Community Edition 0.2.0 adds a limit of two saved, unarchived source connections per registry, shared across all connector types.

  • Paused connections count toward the limit. Manual records and CSV imports do not.
  • Owners can archive a connection to free a slot without deleting its records, evidence, history, or saved credentials. Restoring requires a free slot and leaves the connection paused.
  • Existing registries with more than two connections retain their records. Only their oldest two unarchived connections can preview or sync until an owner archives the unwanted connections.
  • The UI shows slot usage; both connection-creation APIs enforce the limit with transactional locking. The limit is a Community product policy in editable MIT-licensed source, not a paid licensing system.

Installation and upgrade

Download and extract the source archive below, install Docker Desktop (or Docker Engine with Compose), then run ./community.sh start (macOS/Linux) or ./community.ps1 start (Windows PowerShell). Open https://localhost:8443 and follow docs/INSTALL.md for the local certificate and first-account setup. The launcher pulls ghcr.io/cat-proof/catproof-community:0.2.0.

Before upgrading an existing installation, stop the app and make a full backup as described in docs/OPERATIONS.md. Version 0.2.0 applies hosted schema migration h0008. It adds archival state without automatically archiving or deleting existing sources. Schema downgrade requires restoring a compatible backup.

The original 0.1.0 release and image are unchanged. The new limit applies to 0.2.0 and does not retrofit older downloads.

This remains an early-access, self-hosted release. The source archive contains the application, Docker Compose setup, documentation, and MIT license. Image digest and archive checksum are attached.

Validation

  • Release pipeline: 346 PostgreSQL/HTTP regression tests, local setup, JavaScript, PowerShell syntax, and source-built Docker HTTPS/account/isolation/restart/connection-limit smoke passed.
  • Anonymous image download and runtime check passed with a clean Docker authentication directory.
  • Native AMD64 and ARM64 published-image checks passed HTTPS, restart durability, the two-connection limit, paused counting, both creation APIs, and archive/restore. Package visibility is public.
  • The source archive and SHA-256 checksum were verified. Bounded credential-pattern and Gitleaks directory scans found no leaks; these are not a comprehensive security audit.

macOS and Windows Docker Desktop host validation remains separate from Linux container and PowerShell syntax checks.
