DevCatz 1.0.0
Finally, someone herds the cats. The first public release of DevCatz — free and open source under GPL-3.0.
- Sites — PHP, Node.js / Bun, Python and Go projects detected with their framework, each on its own
https://*.localhostwith a trusted certificate; monorepos and Git worktrees included. - Runtimes — any PHP, Node.js, Bun, Python or Go version per site, installed for you.
- Services — MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Valkey, MongoDB, Elasticsearch; S3-compatible storage; search engines; WebSocket servers; a mail catcher; gateways; tunnels to share a site.
- Per site — logs,
.env, database links and migrations, the site's API, Git with AI-written commit messages, Docker files generated from the stack. - AI, optional — your own provider; off until you switch it on.
- The family — databases open in DBCatz, sites become DialCatz environments.
Updated build (27 October)
- Shortcut labels and system words now come from one place, ready for the Windows build — nothing changes on your Mac.
- The repository now has contributing, support and security guides, issue forms and a CLA check.
- Download & Install of DBCatz and DialCatz now takes the build for your Mac — Intel Macs used to get the Apple silicon download. The "Download from the site" link in the update dialog points at your platform too.
- API tab: Create openapi.yaml / swagger.json — a starter OpenAPI 3 document (the app's name, version and local URL, one example route) for sites without a generator; DialCatz imports its routes.
- More groundwork for the Windows build.
Same version number — if you already run 1.0.0 there is nothing you need to do.
Install: download below, from catzoid.com/devcatz/download, or with Homebrew: brew tap catzoidhub/catz && brew trust catzoidhub/catz && brew install --cask devcatz.
Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or later; signed and notarized by Apple, and the app updates itself. Windows is on the way.
