v0.2.5 - Colour shading for eFG%, TS% and USG%
What's new
Colour shading on eFG%, TS% and USG%, on the Players page and on My Team (Average Stats > current season).
- eFG% and TS% run in soft pastels from red (poor) through yellow (league average) to green (elite). Efficient shooters stand out at a glance.
- USG% has its own light-to-deeper blue scale, since high usage is a role rather than good or bad. A low-minutes player in deep blue is heavily involved whenever he plays.
- The league average and spread come live from nba.com for the selected window (Season, L10, L5). Switching Per Game, Per 36 or Per 100 does not change these stats, so the colours stay put.
- Small samples (under 25% of the team's games, or under 8 minutes a game) are still shaded but get a small dark dot on the USG% cell. Hover it for details, for example
Small sample: 2 of 12 team games, 6.0 MPG.
Early in the season the spread is wide, so most cells sit near yellow for the first week or two. That is expected.
Updating
Unzip hoopradar-v0.2.5.zip over your existing hoopradar folder, then click the reload arrow on HoopRadar in chrome://extensions. Your settings carry over.
v0.2.4 - Stats line up on other managers' team pages
What's fixed
Stats line up on other managers' team pages. When you view another manager's team, Yahoo adds an "Action" column whose single header spans two cells (the trade and watch icons). HoopRadar matched headers to cells by counting cells, so every stat after it was written one column to the left: A/T values showed under TO, FG% under FGM/A, and so on. Headers and cells are now matched by column position. Your own team page was never affected.
The Players page re-sort used the same cell counting and would have sorted by the wrong column on a table with a spanning header. That is fixed too.
Updating
Unzip hoopradar-v0.2.4.zip over your existing hoopradar folder, then click the reload arrow on HoopRadar in chrome://extensions. Your settings carry over.
v0.2.3 - My Team page works again
What's fixed
The My Team page works again. For the 2026-27 season Yahoo changed the My Team URL (it now ends in /team), and HoopRadar did not recognise it, so the page showed neither the overlay nor the "switch tab" banner. Both the old and new URL shapes now work.
The overlay mounts on Average Stats > 2026-27 Season. Yahoo also added a date picker whose prev/next arrows link to the same view as the season sub-tab. HoopRadar mistook an arrow for the sub-tab, so it kept showing the banner even on the right tab. It now finds the real sub-tab, and the banner's Switch tab button goes straight there.
Until games are played the columns show dashes. That is expected.
Updating
Unzip hoopradar-v0.2.3.zip over your existing hoopradar folder, then click the reload arrow on HoopRadar in chrome://extensions. Your settings carry over.
v0.2.2 - Updating no longer resets your settings
What's fixed
The zip now unpacks to a folder called hoopradar instead of one stamped with the version. Chrome derives an unpacked extension's identity from its folder path, so a fresh folder per release meant Chrome saw an entirely new extension every time: the old copy stayed loaded alongside it, and the new one started with empty storage, discarding your settings and cached player mapping. Updating has quietly reset your data on every release until now.
One last reset
This build lands at a different path than v0.2.1, so settings reset one final time. From here on, unzip over the same folder, click reload, and they survive.
Worth doing once
If chrome://extensions shows several HoopRadar entries from earlier versions, remove all but this one. Each loaded copy injects its own filter bar and keeps its own stat cache.
Still expected
No stats until games are played in October. nba.com has nothing for a season that has not started.
Install
Download hoopradar-v0.2.2.zip, unzip somewhere permanent, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the hoopradar folder.
v0.2.1 - Player list cache fix
What's fixed
The cached nba.com player list could get stuck empty. The season string rolls over in July, months before opening night. Until rosters go live, nba.com reports no team for any player, so the list came back empty, and an empty list was mistaken for a populated cache and never refetched. Left alone, that snapshot would have been served for the entire 2026-27 season: every player unmapped, no stats shown, from opening night onward.
Cached lists now expire after 6 hours, and an empty list is never treated as valid.
If you already ran v0.2.0
Your install is likely holding a stuck cache already. It repairs itself on the first run after updating, so there is nothing to click. Install this build and you are done.
Expected for now
Until games are played in October there is still nothing to display. nba.com has no stats for a season that has not started, so a blank overlay in the preseason is correct behavior, not a bug.
Install
Download hoopradar-v0.2.1.zip, unzip, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the unzipped folder. Or reload the existing install in place.
v0.2.0 - Renamed to HoopRadar
What's new
New name: HoopRadar. fNBA is now HoopRadar, "Advanced stats for fantasy hoops". Same tool, same features, same overlay on Yahoo Fantasy Basketball. Only the name changed.
Heads-up: settings and cached stats reset
Internal identifiers and storage keys moved to a hoopradar prefix, so saved settings, the cached stats, and the cached Yahoo-to-NBA player mapping do not carry over from v0.1.0. Click Refresh once on a Yahoo page to rebuild the mapping. After that it behaves exactly as before.
Known and expected
Yahoo archives finished seasons under a year-prefixed URL (e.g. /2025/nba/<league>/players). HoopRadar does not inject there by design, since it overlays current-season stats. It picks up again on an active 2026-27 league.
Install
Download hoopradar-v0.2.0.zip, unzip, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the unzipped folder. Or just reload the existing install in place.
v0.1.0 - Spider axis detail popout
What's new
- Axis detail popout. Click an axis on a pinned spider card to see that stat's rank (e.g. 5th of 236), league average, your value, and percentile. It follows your active Window and Per Mode, switches windows instantly, and shows a short note when the selected window has no data for the player.
Reliability and UX
- More reliable stat loading: fNBA now retries nba.com's occasional transient errors automatically instead of surfacing them right away.
- The "Loading..." / "Refreshing..." status now pulses so you can see work happening in the background.
Install
Download fnba-v0.1.0.zip, unzip, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the unzipped folder. Or just reload the existing install in place.
v0.0.13 - Spider tooltip news-icon fix
What changed
- Hovering the news/notes icon next to a player name no longer pops the spider chart over Yahoo's own latest-news popup. Yahoo renders two links per player that share the same id; the tooltip now responds only to the name link, leaving the news icon alone.
Install
Download fnba-v0.0.13.zip, unzip, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the unzipped folder. Or just reload the existing install in place.
v0.0.12 - My Team page guards live stats
On the My Team page, the default landing is "Stats > Today" which shows live game-day numbers your tracker actually relies on. Overlaying nba.com data there was the wrong move. This release fixes that.
What changed
- My Team only overlays on Average Stats > current season. On every other sub-tab (Stats > Today, Stats > Last 7 Days, Standard Deviations, etc.) fNBA mounts a small banner instead, with a one-click "Switch tab" button that takes you to the right view.
- All stat-tab clicks on the My Team page now do a full page reload. Yahoo's in-page AJAX tab switching played poorly with our state detection, so each click hands the navigation back to the browser. The reload feels close to the AJAX swap (~1 second) and the behavior is now deterministic.
- Season is dynamic. The "current season" detection rolls forward automatically with the calendar. When the 2026-27 season opens, the banner and detection swap to that label without any code change.
Players page
Unchanged. The full filter bar + overlay + spider tooltip flow works the same as before; the Players page is always a research view, no live-stat concern.
Install
Download fnba-v0.0.12.zip, unzip, then in chrome://extensions enable Developer mode and click Load unpacked, pointing at the unzipped folder. Or just reload the existing install in place.
v0.0.11 - Spider tooltip fixes
Follow-up to v0.0.10 with four bug fixes against the spider tooltip.
Fixes
- Pinned card stays open while you change the per-mode dropdown. Previously clicking inside the filter bar dismissed the pin before it could refresh; the controller now treats the filter bar as a safe area.
- USG% in the tooltip matches the USG% column. The tooltip was rendering the raw nba.com fraction (e.g. "0.3") instead of the conventional percentage ("28.4"). Now multiplies by 100 like the injected column does.
- Softer message for unmapped players. "No NBA mapping. Fix in Options." referenced an Options page that does not ship yet; replaced with "No NBA mapping for this player yet."
- Refresh button now rebuilds the NBA player list. Previously, the cached NBA list was only fetched once per season. Players who were injured / on a two-way contract / activated mid-season would silently never map. Two changes together unblock this:
- The ROSTERSTATUS filter has been removed so injured and two-way players are eligible for mapping.
- The Refresh button in the filter bar now invalidates both the league response cache and the NBA player list cache, so the next mapping check picks up newly available players.
