Stop Please! v1.0.0
Stop Please! v1.0.0
First release of Stop Please!
Stop Please! is a menu-bar utility for macOS that pauses everything that is playing with one shortcut, and resumes only what it paused with the next press.
Features
- Shift + Play/Pause (or ⌃⌥⌘P) pauses every app that is playing and remembers them as a group
- The next press resumes exactly that group, even if another app has since become the Now Playing app
- Keeps up to three groups, with a chooser to pick which one to resume
- Lists every Now Playing source in the menu; click one to pause or play just that app
- Works with apps as installed: no plugins, no per-app setup, nothing injected
- Launch at login, and Export Log… for bug reports
- Lightweight: about 35 MB of memory and practically no CPU while idle. No network access and no analytics
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon
- macOS 15 or later
Installation
Download StopPlease-1.0.0.dmg (or the .zip), open it, and drag Stop Please! to Applications.
Stop Please is not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the message about Stop Please, and confirm.
Shift + Play/Pause needs the Accessibility permission; macOS asks for it when you choose that shortcut. ⌃⌥⌘P needs no permission.
Future releases are signed with the same certificate, so the Accessibility permission carries over when you update.
See the README for usage, permissions, and how to uninstall.
