OutRunners v1.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 31 Oct 18:29

OutRunners 1.1: fixes for widescreen and FULL, a friendlier CLASSIC, and new options. As before, nothing of
the game comes in these packages: keep your own orunners.zip (MAME's ROM set, World) beside the game, and it
takes its assets out of it the first time it starts. The devices' games (Switch, Android, Anbernic) are made
again with the tools in the package.

Fixed

  • Widescreen backgrounds at the stage changes: the clouds and the scenery behind the road no longer show
    cut or half-swapped at the sides of WIDE 16:9 and 20:9 after the pre-stage and at each checkpoint (the game
    swaps the background a column at a time out of its own 320 pixels, which WIDE's sides show).
  • FULL's and REVERSE's stage changes: the new background no longer replaces the old one in a frame (the
    clouds turning into the city at once, also in 4:3); it slides in as the arcade's does.

Changed

  • CLASSIC: 5 seconds more than ARCADE in every part, at the start and at each checkpoint.
  • The route map beside the race (an open Fold, a tall screen) in CLASSIC too.

New in OPTIONS

  • STEERING: the sticks' DEAD ZONE and SENSITIVITY, and the SPEED of the wheel on keys and d-pads.
  • FPS: the frames a second at the top right of the picture, and in the window's title on a computer.
  • The version at the bottom right.

README.txt in the package says what each tool needs. What a tool makes is yours alone: never share it.

OutRunners v1.0.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Oct 22:09

The first release of the OutRunners port: Sega's 1992 arcade game as a native game, built on its
decompilation and checked frame by frame against MAME. Nothing of the game comes in these packages: keep
your own orunners.zip (MAME's ROM set, World) beside the game, and it takes its assets out of it the first
time it starts.

The packages (Windows, Linux, macOS for Apple silicon and Intel) hold both games and the tools that make
the devices' games with your ROM set:

  • OutRunners: the console version. ARCADE, 2 PLAYERS (side by side, one over the other, or facing each
    other on a tablet), NETWORK, & KNUCKLES (CLASSIC, TIME ATTACK with its ghost, FULL, REVERSE), OPTIONS
    (CONTROLS, DIFFICULTY, TIME, VIDEO with PIXELS and WIDE 16:9 or 20:9, VOLUME, SOUND TEST), the pause.
  • OutRunners Arcade: the arcade game as it is, both cabinet screens side by side.
  • OutRunners NSP (Nintendo Switch, with your console's keys), OutRunners APK (Android, with a key of
    yours) and OutRunners Anbernic (the H700 handhelds' PORTS).

NETWORK: up to four devices on the same local network race together, computers, phones and the Switch
alike: one hosts a room, the others join it, the host's START races them all. A device that stops being
heard leaves the race after 3 seconds, and the race goes on; if it hosted, the next one hosts on.

README.txt in the package says what each tool needs. What a tool makes is yours alone: never share it.
