##Tips

Here are some techniques for getting the most from Trickle:

  • While one of the benefits of Adapt is its scrolling approach, sometimes you might want learners to view specific pieces of content before moving on. You can achieve this with trickle by either locking the ability to navigate down the page until a block is either complete or a button is selected.

  • Be creative—if you’re taking a gaming approach, try combining Trickle with a Text Input component to make a password lock which encourages learners to explore other areas of the course in an effort to find the password. Trickle is linked to block completion so you’ll need to set number of attempts on the question to something like 999. By doing this the block will only complete and the Trickle lock be released when either the correct feedback is displayed or the final (after 999 attempts) is shown.

  • Consider configuring Trickle so that once unlocked, it stays unlocked. This allows the learner to navigate freely within any area of the page which has previously been visited.

  • Think about using Trickle in your assessments. You can use the extension to automatically scroll the next question into view once the submit button on the current question is selected (the scroll is triggered upon block completion, hence the recommendation to only use one question per block).
