v2.7.0 - Boundary Shapes: KMZ polygon import with selective preview
New Features
Boundary Shapes
- KML/KMZ polygons now import as boundary shapes — a new concept alongside POIs. Supports MultiGeometry (multi-part boundaries) and polygon holes.
- Shapes render on every map as Mapbox fill + outline layers beneath the POI pins.
- New Shapes tab (Clear Map → Categories & POIs → Shapes): edit name, color, outline width, fill on/off + opacity, visibility, or delete.
- Re-importing a boundary updates its geometry but keeps your styling (merge by name).
- New WPBakery "Show Boundary Shapes" toggle in the Map Display group (default on).
Selective Import Preview
- The KML import no longer auto-saves after parsing. New flow: Upload & Preview → check/uncheck items → Import Selected.
- POIs are grouped by category with select-all group checkboxes; shapes get their own group.
- A shapes-only import never touches existing POIs or categories.
Fixes
- KMZ upload via the browser never worked — PHP uploads land in an extensionless temp file, so KMZ archives were parsed as raw XML ("Invalid KML format"). The parser now detects zip content by magic bytes.
v2.6.0 — POI Override Address (manual coordinates)
POI "Override Address" for manual coordinates
New Override Address checkbox in the POI edit modal (under Location Data). When checked:
- Unlocks the Latitude / Longitude fields for manual entry
- The map pin uses those coordinates instead of geocoding the address
- Geocoding is skipped on save — even if you change the address
- Coordinate Source is recorded as
manual
The geocode button is disabled while override is on so it can't overwrite your manual coordinates. Existing POIs are unaffected (the flag defaults off).
No display/front-end changes — the map already renders each POI's stored latitude/longitude.
v2.5.0 — Accessibility: category toggles + The Area heading
Accessibility fixes (applies to all sites using clear-map):
- Category expand toggles now have an accessible name (aria-label) + aria-controls; aria-expanded moved onto the button; chevron marked decorative.
- 'The Area' filter title is now a valid
(was
) so it no longer skips a heading level. Visible change: activates the previously-dead compact-label styling — the title now renders as a compact 16px uppercase label on every site.
v2.4.1 — Building tooltip restyle + show/hide toggle
2.4.1
- Restyled the building hover tooltip — proper padding and a centered name / divider / details layout matching the POI popup. Previously it rendered with no padding (the global
.mapboxgl-popup-contentsetspadding:0and.building-popuphad no styles of its own). - New "Show Building Tooltip on Hover" setting (Settings → Building Information). Turn it off when you'd rather drop a dedicated POI for the building. It does not hide the building icon — the icon always shows.
Also includes 2.4.0 (previously unreleased)
- Upgraded Mapbox GL JS v2.15.0 → v3.9.0 so styles built on the Mapbox Standard basemap render (v2 showed them blank).
⚠️ v3 can render custom Mapbox styles differently than v2 — worth a quick check on sites with a custom style.
Installed sites update automatically via the GitHub updater.
v2.3.1 - Fix page scroll jump on load
Bug Fix
- Page scroll jump — Opening a POI popup on load could jerk the page down to the map. Now uses
IntersectionObserverto wait until the map is visible before showing the popup, and disables Mapbox'sfocusAfterOpenauto-pan on all popups.
v2.3.0 - Open POI on Load & Smart Popup Positioning
New Features
- Open POI on Load — New dropdown in WPBakery Map Position tab lets you select a POI whose info panel automatically opens when the map loads
- Smart Popup Positioning — Popups now prefer left/right placement over top/bottom, using available horizontal space and preventing vertical clipping
Files Changed
class-wpbakery.php— Addedopen_poidropdown paramclass-frontend.php— Addedopen_poito shortcode whitelistclass-map-renderer.php— PassesopenPoito JS datamap.js— NewopenInitialPoi()method; rewritten anchor logic
v2.2.0 - Auto-Geocode on Address Change
What's New
- Auto-geocode on save — Changing a POI's address now automatically updates its map coordinates when you save
- Re-geocode button — Location icon button next to the address field lets you manually refresh coordinates anytime
- New POI geocoding — New POIs with addresses are automatically geocoded on creation
Technical Details
- New AJAX endpoint:
clear_map_geocode_poifor single-address geocoding - Address change detection compares old vs new address on save
- Re-geocode button provides visual feedback (spinner → checkmark)
v2.1.3 - Alphabetical POI Sorting
Improvement: Alphabetical POI List
POIs in the filter panel's expandable category lists are now sorted alphabetically by name (case-insensitive). Previously they appeared in the order they were stored in the database.
v2.1.2 - Better POI Popup Positioning
Improvement: POI Popup Visibility
When clicking a POI in the filter panel, the map now positions the POI in the lower third of the viewport (20% below center) instead of dead center. This ensures the popup card that appears above the marker is fully visible and not cut off at the top of the map.
v2.1.1 - POI Popup on Filter Click
Enhancement: POI Popup on Filter Panel Click
When clicking a specific POI in the filter panel's expandable list, the map now:
- Zooms to the POI location
- Opens the popup card for that POI automatically
This provides a smoother UX - users can browse POIs in the filter panel and see full details without needing to click the map marker separately.
