v0.1.0 Beta (Build 20261030)
v0.1.0 Beta — Build 20261030
This beta adds a Buy me a coffee link in About, matching CloakDrop, and refreshes compatible project dependencies. Built as an optimized Apple silicon Release with Xcode 27.1 (27A9275) and the macOS 27.0 SDK.
Requires: Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. The app reports 0.1.0 (20261030) · Beta.
What changed
- Added About → Buy me a coffee, with the native cup icon and link row, opening Sumit's Ko-fi page only when selected.
- Updated the companion website to Astro 7.4.4 and Wrangler 4.156.0, refreshed compatible transitive dependencies and removed a redundant Undici override. Its clean dependency audit reports zero vulnerabilities. Website production deployment remains separate.
- Checked the native and installer libraries against their official releases. GRDB 7.11.1, dmgbuild 1.6.7, ds_store 1.3.3 and mac_alias 2.2.3 are already current; the latter three are build-time tools and do not ship in the app.
- Kept TypeScript 6.0.3, the newest supported version: Astro Check 0.9.12's peer range excludes TypeScript 7. Wrangler's upstream Miniflare/workerd dependency pins are retained. See the dependency audit.
Original backup, incremental verification and recovery behavior are unchanged. No accounts, analytics, media uploads or app-operated network services were added.
Verification
- 630 Swift tests passed: 403 core and 227 hosted app tests, plus five release-tool tests.
- Strict SwiftLint passed with zero violations across 151 files. Fresh arm64 Debug and optimized Release builds passed without compiler warnings or errors.
- The Release scale probe built and passed its generated 10,000-item metadata smoke check. The clean source revision stayed unchanged throughout testing, building and packaging.
- The actual app passed signature, sandbox-entitlement, hardened-runtime, architecture, minimum-OS, license and privacy-manifest checks. All 19 app bundle entries matched the read-only DMG.
- Finder's installer layout was visually checked. The packaged app launched directly from the final DMG on macOS 27.2; About showed build 20261030 and the new coffee link with the correct destination. The link was also activated in the Debug app and opened the requested URL in the default browser.
- Website clean install, dependency-tree validation, Astro checks/build, Worker dry-run, Air portability and Sharp/Miniflare/workerd runtime smoke checks passed. GitHub Website and Cloudflare build checks passed for the app's source commit.

Beta limitations
Ad-hoc signed; not Developer ID signed or notarized. Sandbox and hardened runtime remain enabled. Clean-Mac Gatekeeper and minimum macOS 26 runtime acceptance remain open; this build was checked on macOS 27.2.
No new physical iPhone backup was run for this update. Final large-backup, cable/external-drive interruption, full-volume, new-capture/reconnect, sleep/wake and two-phone acceptance remain open, alongside sustained real-library performance and full VoiceOver/accessibility checks. Software tests do not close those gates.
USB exposure is not complete iCloud Photos coverage. Live Photo originals are preserved, but in-app animated playback and restore-to-iPhone are not implemented; edited/effect variants need further hardware validation. Keep another independent copy of irreplaceable originals while evaluating the beta.

v0.1.0 Beta (Build 20261029.2)
v0.1.0 Beta — Build 20261029.2
CloakRoll's first public beta brings original iPhone photo and video backups to the Mac over USB, with incremental copying, local verification and folders you control. This is an optimized Apple silicon Release build using Xcode 27.1 (27A9275) and the macOS 27.0 SDK.
Requires: Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. The app reports 0.1.0 (20261029.2) · Beta. Build numbers follow CloakDrop's YYYYMMDD convention, with .N for additional builds on the same day.
What changed
- Browse USB-exposed photos, videos, RAW and Live Photos with filename search, capture-date filters, date groups, previews and camera metadata.
- Back up original components without conversion or deletion on the iPhone. Live Photo stills, motion originals and exposed adjustment companions are kept together; Info explains their roles.
- Copy only missing originals after checking saved-file identity, size and SHA-256. Each iPhone remembers its destination, with separate device folders and Year/Month or One Folder organization.
- Follow measured progress in the app and Dock, stop or retry work, and review paged offline history. Missing USB originals leave a truthful incomplete result while unrelated available originals can continue.
- Check saved originals and rebuild lost history from portable recovery records. Media-only folders can use an explicit one-time source verification over USB.
- Native macOS controls, keyboard selection, light/dark appearance, family Settings and an Air drag-to-Applications installer.
No accounts, analytics, media uploads or app-operated network services. GRDB 7.11.1 is the only third-party Swift dependency; its license and privacy manifest are included in the app.
Verification
- 630 Swift tests passed: 403 core and 227 hosted app tests, plus five release-tool tests.
- Strict SwiftLint passed with zero violations across 151 files. Fresh arm64 Debug and optimized Release builds passed without compiler warnings or errors.
- The Release performance probe built and passed a generated 10,000-item metadata smoke check. This does not measure physical USB transfers or sustained UI performance.
- The source stayed clean at the same commit throughout testing, building and packaging.
- The app passed signature, sandbox-entitlement, hardened-runtime, architecture, minimum-OS, license and privacy-manifest checks.
- The compressed read-only DMG passed filesystem verification and comparison of all 19 app bundle entries, installer artwork, guide, icon positions and Applications link.
- Finder's installer layout was visually inspected. The app launched directly from the final DMG on macOS 27.2, and About displayed the expected beta build. The mounted app passed its bundle audit again after launch.
No new physical iPhone backup was run for this release. Earlier bounded hardware evidence and outstanding acceptance checks are documented in the release checklist.

Beta limitations
- Ad-hoc signed; not Developer ID signed or notarized. Sandbox and hardened runtime remain enabled. Clean-Mac Gatekeeper acceptance and minimum macOS 26 runtime acceptance remain open; this release was checked on macOS 27.2.
- Only originals exposed by the iPhone over USB are available. iCloud-only originals may be absent, and Photos albums are not reconstructed from DCIM folders. Keep another independent copy of irreplaceable originals while evaluating the beta.
- Final large-backup, new-capture/reconnect, cable/external-drive interruption, full-volume, sleep/wake and two-physical-iPhone acceptance remain open. Automated tests and prior bounded imports do not close those gates.
- Sustained physical-library profiling, full VoiceOver spoken feedback and the remaining accessibility variants are still pending.
- Live Photo originals are preserved, but animated playback inside CloakRoll is not implemented. Edited/effect variants and playback in independent viewers need further hardware validation. Restore to an iPhone is not implemented.
