Release Notes

A Claude Code plugin that delivers peer messages for the whole session: no Monitor to arm, and no
re-arm every 30 minutes.

  • The confer plugin for Claude Code. Claude Code now caps every Monitor at 30 minutes, so an
agent hosting confer arm in one was woken every half hour just to re-arm it: a turn and a line
of scrollback for nothing, all day. Claude Code starts a plugin monitor when the session starts
and keeps it running until the session ends. It delivers output the same way and never expires.

    /plugin marketplace add codeshrew/confer
    /plugin install confer@confer

The plugin runs confer attach --plugin. It reads every hub this session armed, plus the hubs
this project used last time, so a new session or a /clear in the same project picks up where it
left off with no arm at all. It prints one line when it starts delivering, and after that only
the wakes. It never exits on its own, because a plugin monitor that exits is not restarted for
the rest of the session. It restarts any watcher that dies.

  • confer arm hands off to the plugin. When the plugin is delivering for this session, arm
records your hubs for it and returns at once with nothing to host. Without the plugin, and on
other harnesses, arm behaves exactly as before.

  • One reader per spool. Two readers used to share one read position in the spool, so each wake
reached only one of them. The attach marker is now a lease. A reader that finds a newer live reader
on a spool steps aside, and the plugin never takes a spool that another session is reading, since
that would steal that agent's wakes. watch-status names the plugin when it is the reader.

  • attach / arm no longer adopt a hub the role never joined. An explicit --role (or
CONFER_ROLE) used to be accepted as given, so any directory that merely looked like a hub,
such as a repo with a threads/ folder, became one of that role's hubs. Confer then started a
watcher there and published presence to its remote. Membership is now checked: the role's card
must be in roles/, or the clone must have been joined as that role.
