Mtrini Workspace 0.8.2

New

  • Automatic updates. The app checks for new releases in the background, downloads them, verifies each download against its published SHA-256, and installs it when you close the app. Click Restart to update to install right away. Turn it off, or check by hand, in Settings → About. This is the first version that updates itself, so going from 0.8.1 to 0.8.2 is a manual install; after that, new versions arrive on their own.
  • Linux app. .AppImage (updates itself), .deb (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, or a similar distribution) and .tar.gz. It opens in its own window using Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Brave or Vivaldi if one is installed, otherwise in your default browser. .deb and .tar.gz installs tell you when a new version is out but don't update themselves.
  • More than one custom provider. Add as many OpenAI-compatible endpoints as you like under Settings → Providers, each with its own name, address and key.
  • Optional Mtrini accounts. Sign in with Discord or GitHub under Settings → Account. You can see and sign out your devices, link or unlink sign-ins, or delete the account. You don't need an account for anything in this release; it's the groundwork for the upcoming Android app.

Privacy

  • Update checks go to GitHub (api.github.com) a few times a day, with the app's version in the user agent and nothing else. Switching automatic updates off stops them.
  • If you sign in, Mtrini Cloud stores your name, email, picture, linked sign-ins and a list of your devices. It receives nothing from your projects. Details in PRIVACY.md.

Download

  • Windows 10/11: MtriniWorkspace-Setup-0.8.2.exe below. Installing over 0.8.1 keeps your settings and projects.
  • Linux: the .AppImage, .deb and .tar.gz below (checksums in MtriniWorkspace-0.8.2-linux.sha256).

Mtrini Workspace 0.8.1

New

  • A free model, built in. Open the app and the coding agent already works: no API key, no account, no card. The free model is Qwen3.8 27B, sponsored by Heabsy and running on their hardware in the EU. Everyone gets a daily allowance (about one full agent task, or a few dozen short replies), which resets at midnight UTC. How it works
  • Heabsy as a provider. Add your own Heabsy key under Settings → Providers for more than the free allowance.
  • Simpler model picking. The chat picker lists only the providers you've connected, models come in a dropdown (with "Other model id…" for anything else), and the thinking-level picker only appears for models that support it.
  • Your choices stick. The app remembers your last provider and model, and provider settings (like a local server's address) now follow you across projects.

Fixed

  • Saving a Hugging Face token no longer makes every key-based provider look connected.
  • On narrow windows, the send button no longer slides out of view.

Privacy

Requests to the free model go through Compiwer's relay to Heabsy. To apply the daily allowance, the app sends a random install ID; the relay keeps only today's usage counters (with a hashed IP address) and deletes them daily. It never stores prompts or answers. Other providers and local models don't go through the relay. Details in PRIVACY.md.

Mtrini Workspace 0.8.0

The agent now works the way a coding agent should: it keeps its whole session, carries on after you approve a step, and gives you plan mode, rewind, task lists, subagents and more.

Fixed

  • Multi-step tool use works on every provider. Tool results were sent to the model in the wrong order and without the call they answered, so many models lost track after the first tool. Claude and Gemini now use tools too (Claude through Anthropic's official SDK, with effort levels on current models; Gemini through native function calling).
  • Approving a step continues the task. Before, "Allow" ran that one tool and the agent stopped. Now the same turn picks up where it paused.

New

  • Plan mode. The agent researches with read-only tools, then shows a plan. Approve it, approve it straight into auto-accept, or send it back with notes.
  • Always allow. Approval cards can save a rule (.mtrini/permissions.json). A shell rule covers one command, like npm test, never a chain like npm test && …. Deleting always asks.
  • Task list above the message box for longer jobs.
  • Diffs for every file the agent writes or edits, right in the timeline.
  • Rewind. The ↺ button on any of your messages puts back the files the agent changed from that point and removes those turns. Changes made by shell commands are not undone.
  • Subagents for side jobs, with their own context. Read-only unless you're in auto mode. Add your own in .mtrini/agents/.
  • Context compaction. Long sessions summarize older turns automatically; /compact does it on demand.
  • Hooks (.mtrini/hooks.json) run your commands before or after tools, on each prompt, or when the agent finishes. They stay off until you trust that exact file.
  • Web. The agent can read web pages, and search with Brave, Tavily or your own SearXNG (Settings → Agent).
  • Images. Paste or drop screenshots into the message box for vision models.
  • Headless CLI. mtrini -p "fix the failing test" runs the agent in a terminal; --mode auto --json for scripts and CI.
  • New commands: /compact, /init, /agents, /permissions.

Saved conversations and file snapshots live in .mtrini/sessions/ and .mtrini/checkpoints/, which are automatically kept out of git.

Mtrini Workspace 0.7.2

New

  • Mtrini Workspace on OpenRouter. When you use an OpenRouter model, requests now name the app, so Mtrini Workspace gets its own page in OpenRouter's public app rankings. Only the app's name and GitHub link are sent; nothing about you, your project or your prompts.

Fixed

  • Fresh clones of the repository start again. One source folder (backend/mtrini/models) was accidentally left out of the repository by an ignore rule, so building from source failed. The installer was not affected.

Mtrini Workspace 0.7.1

A fix release for Windows.

Fixed

  • No more flashing console windows. The app no longer opens a terminal window every time it runs git, a shell command, Python or an MCP server. Everything now starts hidden.
  • "Run Python" no longer opens a second copy of the app. In the installed app the tool used to launch MtriniWorkspace.exe itself; it now uses your installed Python and shows a clear message if none is found.
