StudyOS v1.4.0 — Calm Serenity, Knowledge Graph & Offline Architecture

StudyOS v1.4.0 is a milestone release delivering profound cognitive tranquility, bidirectional concept linking, eyes-free audio practice, and hardened air-gapped local reliability. Built on the philosophy of Calm Minimalism and zero-cloud local privacy.

What's New in v1.4.0

☕ Minimalist "Coffee Time" Aesthetic & Serene Visual Redesign

  • Cognitive Serenity: Redesigned from harsh high-contrast neon branding to the calm "Coffee Time" palette: Obsidian (#101216), Amber Latte (#D4A373), Soft Chamomile (#EAD9B8), and Muted Sage (#CCD5AE).
  • New App Icon: Complete adaptive and legacy mipmap suite across all screen densities.
  • Ambient Focus Integration: Built-in offline audio player and breathing transitions for restorative pauses.

🕸️ Bidirectional Note Linking & Interactive Knowledge Graph

  • [[WikiLinks]] Syntax: Connect concepts seamlessly across notes with real-time clickable navigation.
  • Interactive 2D Knowledge Graph: 2D force-directed layout simulation on an interactive Canvas with pinch-to-zoom, panning, and single-tap note opening.

🎧 Hands-Free Audio Flashcard Drill Mode

  • Eyes-Free Spaced Repetition: Local Android Text-to-Speech loop (Reads Question → pause for retrieval → speaks Answer → auto-advances).
  • Physical Controls: Dedicated audio mode banner and hardware keyboard shortcuts for rapid review.

📊 Offline AI Exam Readiness Radar & Weak Spot Diagnoser

  • Cognitive Radar: 5-axis spider chart calculating Preparation, Coverage, Retention, Stability, and Accuracy mathematically on-device.
  • Micro-Sprint Diagnoser: Automated detection of urgent knowledge gaps with 1-tap 10-minute micro-sprint timer triggers.

🔒 Air-Gapped AES-256-GCM Encrypted Backups

  • Military-Grade Security: PBKDF2 key derivation (10,000 iterations) with authenticated AES/GCM/NoPadding encryption (12-byte IV, 128-bit auth tag) for exportable .studyos backup archives.
  • Zero Cloud Leakage: 100% air-gapped and local-first with no remote telemetry or cloud sync.

🛡️ Local Architecture Hardening & Performance

  • Foreground FocusService: Continuous study timer service with 60-second SQLite checkpoints into Room and onTaskRemoved crash recovery.
  • Streaming Document Extraction: Bounded 16MB buffers and RGB_565 downsampling with proactive bitmap recycling to eliminate Dalvik OOM on large scanned PDFs.
  • Self-Healing Room Integrity Engine: Automated PRAGMA quick_check, foreign key checks, WAL checkpointing, index rebuilds, and damaged database snapshotting.
  • Focus Timer Home Screen AppWidget: Interactive start/stop controls directly from the Android launcher.
  • Hardware Keyboard Shortcuts: Full Chromebook and tablet support (Ctrl+N, Ctrl+Space, Space, Arrows).
