npm run build freezes on "Creating an optimized production build..."

This is for the newest release (2.0.13), as I've got an older version (2.0.8) that builds fine. The current build hangs even after running it overnight. I am using Windows Subsystem for Linux on two different machines and am experiencing the same issues with both (32GB of RAM in both and one machine has an i7 4th gen and the other an i7 7th gen). Any idea what might be going on to cause the current version to hang while 2.0.8 builds with dozens of other additions in ~100 seconds? Thanks.

build freezes both on Windows Subsystem for Linux and Ubuntu 18.04 Hyper-V with EACCES: permision denied

• it works with sudo npm run build - it is a permissions issue.

It is a permissions issue, not related to CoreU itself.

@xidedix I'm having the same issue but sudo doesn't fix it. How did you find out where it was hanging? strace?

EDIT - Hmmm... it built just fine on my Fedora laptop. Must be a WSL problem.

Check your RAM, my issue got fixed when I make build on 16GB RAM, it required more RAM previously I was trying make build on 8GB RAM system

Hi.. I fixed it by changing the react scripts to latest version 3.0. Then everything works as expected

FYI, GENERATE_SOURCEMAP does nothing in development. It's a production-only flag. https://create-react-app.dev/docs/advanced-configuration/

I'm getting a hang on compiling as well.
