EWG discussed P2979R0 during the Thursday afternoon session in Kona. The following poll was taken:

P2979R0 “The Need for Design Policies in WG21” we are interested in defining principles (or rules of thumbs) and policies for the design and evolution of C++, with the goal of documenting our common understanding and simplifying our ongoing work, but without creating a bureaucracy.

The paper was discussed in both EWG and LEWG during Kona 2023 (LEWG Minutes, EWG Minutes). The need for policies was supported.
