A window that closes without taking the app with it, a caret that holds its column through a scroll, and a key for either end of the document.

New

  • The editor moves the caret to the start and end of the document with cmd-up and cmd-down on macOS and ctrl-home and ctrl-end elsewhere, and selects to them with shift held. The actions are DocumentStart, DocumentEnd, SelectDocumentStart and SelectDocumentEnd.

Changed

  • bezel-gpui 0.3.12.

Fixed

  • Closing a window on macOS no longer crashes the app. zed-industries/zed#64143 drops the accessibility adapter when a window is dropped, which restores the content view's class and discards the KVO subclass AppKit's touch bar finder installed to observe nextResponder; the finder then removed that observation during the next display-cycle flush and raised NSRangeException. bezel-gpui 0.3.12 flushes the display cycle before dropping the adapter.
  • Up and down keep the caret on its row when the move scrolls the editor. The row a run of vertical moves holds is measured from the caret rather than the window, so a scroll between two presses no longer sends the next one to the wrong line.
  • Up and down land on the painted position nearest the column they started in, on the row they were aiming for. A soft-wrapped line is hit tested one row at a time rather than as a whole paragraph at the row's middle.
  • Typing, select all, undo and redo end a run of vertical moves, so the next up or down starts from where the caret is rather than a column held from before.
  • The goal column survives a trip to either end of the document: moving up from the first line or down from the last and then back returns the caret to the column it came from.
