Xeriom Nagios SNMP Agents
=========================

A bunch of SNMP agents that I use in conjunction with the Nagios check here:

Installation
------------

Extract this directory to /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents:

  cd /usr/lib
  sudo git clone git://github.com/craigw/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents.git

Remember to pull in the submodules:

  cd /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents
  sudo git submodule init
  sudo git submodule update


Checking things work
--------------------

As mentioned in the documentation for snmp-tools you can ask each agent to
dump the OID tree it manages. For example, to see what the mount agent would
output you would do this:

    cd /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents
    echo DUMP | bin/mount_agent


Using the agents
----------------

Add a section to your snmpd.conf that looks like this*:

    pass_persist .1.3.6.1.4.1.32919.4.1.1.1.1 /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents/bin/mount_agent
    pass_persist .1.3.6.1.4.1.32919.4.2.1.1.1 /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents/bin/xen_store_agent
    pass_persist .1.3.6.1.4.1.32919.4.2.2.1.1 /usr/lib/xeriom-nagios-snmp-agents/bin/xen_configuration_agent

Now restart your SNMPD and try to walk the OID tree .1.3.6.1.4.1.32919.4

    snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.32919.4

You should see a bunch of OIDs and values from the agent.

* Unless you're running a Xen dom0 you're unlikely to need the
xen_store_agent on xen_configuraiton_agent. Pick the agents that make sense
for your situation.


Special requirements
--------------------

Various agents have special requirements. Please have a look at the top of the
individual agent script for specific requirements.
