rtcping v0.1.0 (Initial Release)
We are excited to announce the initial release of rtcping, a lightweight and efficient TCP latency measurement tool written in Rust.
Features
- TCP Latency Measurement: Measures the Round Trip Time (RTT) by establishing TCP connections to a target host and port.
- Warmup Support: Optimized for accurate measurements by including a configurable warmup period (default 1s) to prime the network path.
- Flexible Execution Modes:
- Ping by count (e.g.,
-n 10). - Ping by duration (e.g.,
-n 60s).
- Ping by count (e.g.,
- Configurable Intervals: Control the frequency of pings with the
-iflag (milliseconds). - Protocol Forcing: Explicitly force IPv4 or IPv6 connections using
-4or-6. - Comprehensive Statistics: Displays real-time connection results and provides a final summary including:
- Total packets transmitted and received.
- Packet loss percentage.
- Minimum, Average, and Maximum RTT.
- Graceful Interruption: Integrated Ctrl+C handling allows you to stop the pings early while still viewing the collected statistics.
Installation
You can build the tool from source using Cargo:
cargo install --path .Usage Example
