Know Giver v0.36.0
Added
- Closing the window keeps Know Giver in the system tray, with options to reopen or quit.
The first install can optionally enable startup at login and study reminders; both are
off by default. While the app is running in the tray, reminders appear every three hours
when the active plan has unfinished subjects, showing progress for up to three subjects.
Reminders can also be toggled in Settings.
Know Giver v0.35.0
Added
- Generated handout PDFs are kept in the app's local data folder. The handout library
can export a copy to a location chosen by the student.
Changed
- Generating a handout with an existing file name now creates a numbered copy instead
of replacing the previous PDF.
Know Giver v0.34.1
Fixed
- The v0.34.0 release build stopped on Linux: a review test hit the default local AI
address, failed at once and ended its session mid-test. Engine tests now talk to a
local server that accepts connections and never answers, so no real reply arrives
while a test runs. The app itself is unchanged from v0.34.0.
Know Giver v0.33.1
Added
- Desktop shortcut: the one-line installs ask on the first install whether to add one
(Windows, macOS and Linux); updates keep the choice.KG_DESKTOP_SHORTCUT=1or0
answers in advance. - Uninstaller in the program folder, following each system's conventions:
- Windows: the installer now carries publisher, support and update links, closes a
running Know Giver before replacing files, and its uninstaller (Settings → Apps, the
Start menu orunins000.exe) removes the whole program folder, including a.env
with an API key. It then asks whether to delete the study data too; No is the default. - macOS and Linux:
uninstall.shships in the package (in the app bundle's Resources on
macOS, in~/.local/opt/KnowGiveron Linux). It removes the app, command, menu entry,
icon and desktop shortcut, and asks before deleting study data.
- Windows: the installer now carries publisher, support and update links, closes a
Changed
- The packages' read-me in the five app languages (
README.<lang>.txt, on Windows and on
macOS/Linux), rewritten for the first run, updates, data folders and uninstalling. The
single PortugueseLEIA-ME.txtis removed on update. - CI actions on Node.js 24:
checkout@v6,upload-artifact@v6,download-artifact@v7.
Know Giver v0.33.0
Added
- Updates: when the app opens it asks GitHub for the latest release. A newer one shows a
slim bar at the top with a green download button: the app downloads this system's
package, checks it against the release'sSHA256SUMS.txt, installs it and opens again
(the Windows installer runs silently; macOS and Linux run the install script). "Not now"
hides it until the next start; Settings → About and updates turns the check off. - One-line installs in every README:
irm …/install.ps1 | iexon Windows and
curl -fsSL …/install.sh | bashon macOS (Apple silicon) and Linux (x86_64). They install
for the current user without administrator rights and keep study data. - Releases: a version tag now publishes a GitHub release with the Windows installer and
zip, the macOS and Linux packages and their checksums, under fixed names; notes come from
this changelog. The Windows build installs Inno Setup when the runner lacks it. - The GitHub mark next to the version in the sidebar, and in Settings → About and updates,
links to the source code.
Changed
- Terms of use and privacy policy (2026-10-31, every language): GitHub is listed for the
update check (your IP address and the app version) and the update download. Everyone is
asked to agree again. - The silent Windows install opens the app afterwards.
