Parsegraph 7.1.0
Parsegraph 7.1.0 adds directional focus and independent separation controls, with matching TypeScript and C APIs.
Highlights
focus()/clearFocus(), graph-space focus bounds, and optionalfocus/1document serialization.- Per-direction separation fit and Caret
loosen()/tighten(), with optionalseparation/1serialization. Reserve content envelopes without giving up exact combined extents. - Correct inward-root vertical pull, sibling traversal, and detach/reparent preference handling.
- Installable native CMake targets and relocatable static-library packaging, plus matched C/TypeScript benchmarks with HTML, JSONL, and SVG output.
- SVG geometry and focus framing for reference tooling and the visual manual.
Installation and compatibility
npm install parsegraph@7.1.0The JavaScript package retains its CommonJS/UMD entry point and TypeScript declarations. The .parsegraph document remains v1; focus and separation are optional capabilities. Readers must honor separation to reproduce its spacing. Focus metadata does not itself change layout or add viewer camera controls.
Geometry may change for inward-contained graphs affected by the corrected pull bug. Native consumers should rebuild; native C artifacts remain separate from npm and do not promise a stable binary ABI.
Validation
Local validation passed 280 JavaScript tests, 21 native Debug ASan/UBSan tests, and 68 maintenance/package/release safeguard tests. The actual npm archive is checked through CommonJS, browser UMD, and an isolated TypeScript consumer, including focus/separation behavior and round trips. Native separation parity checks compare 480 positions.
The release workflow repeats the Node 22/24 and Linux/macOS native matrix, publishes the exact verified npm archive with provenance, and attaches the npm archive, API documentation, receipt, and checksums.
Parsegraph 7.0.1
Published to npm. Install parsegraph@7.0.1. Publication succeeded in recovery run 39713748395, attempt 2 after npm's outage was resolved.
Recovery commit a4057ede8fab327ccbc81b50888e0870750b182c passed all six CI jobs and reproduced the original archive and receipt byte for byte. Provenance identifies that actual recovery source commit. The v7.0.1 tag remains at b028da9068b37f2fe986e21b1703a49ac195e6ca and its release assets are unchanged.
Parsegraph 7 adds v1 document capabilities, standalone graph generators and SVG export, layout correctness fixes, and a headless C port with an optional Qt Quick viewer.
This patch fixes the release publisher’s registry lookup by using npm’s registry transport. The v7.0.0 GitHub release remains available, but its npm publication failed before uploading a package. The layout library is unchanged in 7.0.1.
Install:
npm install parsegraph@7.0.1The npm package contains JavaScript, TypeScript declarations, specifications, and reference sources. It retains the UMD/CommonJS entry point; native C and Qt builds are separate. Existing v0 serialization APIs remain available, and the npm major version does not change the .parsegraph v1 format.
Validation at b028da9: all six CI jobs passed across Node 22/24 and Linux/macOS native configurations. Both Node jobs passed 262 core tests, 6 packaging tests, 31 release tests, isolated consumer checks, and live registry lookups. The release workflow repeats validation, publishes the exact verified archive with npm provenance, and attaches archives and checksums.
Parsegraph 7.0.0
Parsegraph 7 adds portable graph documents, presentation capabilities, reference generators, and a native C layout port.
Highlights
- V1 document APIs with presentation, appearance, and seeded-generation capabilities; legacy v0 serialization APIs remain available.
- Proportion, Ulam, primes, Memory Piers, and rainbow generators, plus a reference SVG exporter.
- Headless C layout library with TypeScript parity tests and benchmarks, and an optional Qt Quick viewer. Native builds are separate from the npm package.
- Fixes for Extent ownership, growth, separation, and equality; Caret direction/alignment, inward reparenting, scaled-subtree separation, naive layout, and paint-group ordering. Corrected layout bugs can change graph geometry.
Installation and compatibility
npm install parsegraph@7.0.0The npm package includes the JavaScript layout library, TypeScript declarations, specifications, sources, and reference examples. The UMD/CommonJS entry point is retained; browser bundlers can use named imports, and Node CommonJS consumers can use require. There is no native ESM entry point.
The npm major version does not change the .parsegraph v1 format or capability versions.
Validation and release artifacts
Node 22/24 and native Ubuntu/macOS Debug/Release CI passed at d592852. Freeform passed 248 tests and its production build against the verified package archive.
The release workflow revalidates this tag, publishes the exact tested npm archive, and attaches the package, versioned API documentation, package receipt, and SHA256 checksums.
