This is a good idea, but probably not at the top of my priority list. There was a PR #738 proposed for this, but it needs some work and its pretty outdated at this point. |

Description
First, thanks for the incredible work on the Jellyfin Android TV client.
I am currently building a physical 'NFC Jukebox' using Home Assistant, where tapping a card triggers a specific movie or TV show on the Fire Stick. Currently, to make this work, I have to:
The Request:
Would it be possible to implement support for Android Intents that allow for direct playback? This would allow external tools (like Home Assistant or Tasker) to send a single command that opens the app and immediately starts a specific item.
Ideally, it would look something like this:
adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d "jellyfin://play?id=YOUR_ITEM_ID"
Benefits:
• Speed: It removes the need for 'sleep' delays in automations.
• Reliability: It ensures the correct item plays even if the app was already open on a different screen.
• Physical Media Simulation: It makes NFC-to-TV projects (like mine!) feel much more native and responsive.
Thanks for considering!"
Disclaimer, I did you Claude ai for the request wording, but the request is mine!
