mtorrent v0.8.0

Released 2026-09-25 — compared against v0.7.2 (2026-09-20)

Highlights

UPnP / port mapping

  • Graceful shutdown of UPnP mappings. utils::upnp was refactored to encourage graceful shutdown, and DHT now removes its port mapping on shutdown (cc45dde, c637160, 208337d).
  • Robustness. UPnP operations gained retries and timeouts (c2babdc).

DHT

  • Invalid remote addresses are now filtered out (54d6c6a).
  • Additional stats are collected on the DHT UDP socket, and stats are logged on drop (2788e72).

Core connections

  • Do not attempt to connect to peers advertising unspecified / broadcast / link-local addresses (2246f13).
  • Inbound connections are now allowed during the post-disconnect sleep window (7fceab3).
  • Connection logging was cleaned up and made more informative (3a94717).

uTP / transport

  • Reduced logging noise in base::utp::handle (47c9838).
  • No longer logs an error when the connection is closed by the upstream
    task (53aecc1).

Tests & CI

  • Nextest per-test timeout reduced from 60 s to 30 s (ed52243).
  • test_complete_torrent inbound TCP and uTP tests were made less flaky (242dda3, fc3af66), and peers now bind to any available port (877b974).

Internal refactors

  • mtorrent::utils: config.rs and disk.rs were moved / reorganised (ef784df).
  • Version bumped to 0.8.0 (fdd92aa).
