Dart already has an intl package.

If we should use the intl package directly, we may have to write code like the following to use ja locale for the date filter.

import 'package:angular/angular.dart';
import 'package:intl/intl.dart';
import 'package:intl/date_symbol_data_local.dart';
main() {
  Intl.defaultLocale = 'ja';
  initializeDateFormatting(null, null).then((_) {
    ngBootstrap(); 
  });
}

It's ok but I'm glad if you let initializeDateFormatting in ngBootstrap. Or, can I make PR to do this?

Sorry, I checked the above code and it did not work well.

Setting Intl.defaultLocale and using the date filter without calling initializeDateFormatting causes an error, whereas doing them with calling initializeDateFormatting causes no error but its output does not fit our expectation.
