The names of larger unit fields are singular...

year
month
day
weekday

while the names of smaller unit fields are plural...

hours
minutes
seconds
milliseconds

These latter ones should be singular as well to emphasize that a Date represents an instant (singular), not a duration or interval which consists of many instants (plural).
