Data integrity and release validation: 256 countries, 1269 intblocks,
78 blocktypes, and 58694 membership edges.

Breaking

  • Three duplicate intblock IDs are retired: COMMLEARN → COL, ABCZNZ →
ABCANZ, and USAN → UNASUR. Normalize stored keys through
intblocks_aliases.json or intblocks_aliases.parquet before joining the new
exports. Alias mappings are retained indefinitely. Country identifiers and
    columnar schemas are unchanged.
  • Frictionless resource names now identify both table and format (for example,
countries-parquet); consumers selecting resources by name must update their
selectors. Resource paths and table names are unchanged.

For a downstream table with an intblock_id column:

SELECT d.* EXCLUDE (intblock_id),
       coalesce(a.target, d.intblock_id) AS intblock_id
FROM downstream AS d
LEFT JOIN read_parquet('data/datasets/intblocks_aliases.parquet') AS a
  ON d.intblock_id = a.alias AND a.reason = 'merged' AND a.since = '3.0.0';

Fixed

  • Documentation query examples now use valid DuckDB struct aliases and quoted
departure-date columns, country code keys, and Polars fields available in the
    selected export. Cookbook expectations match the current repository snapshot;
UN full-member comparisons explicitly exclude observer seats.
  • Contributor guides now require a full export rebuild with source changes before
CI's committed-artifact check. README and release guides describe current
staging, metadata, tag-version, and recursive schema-migration checks.
  • Manual Hugging Face publishing uses the same validated Parquet bundle as CI,
including rewritten descriptor paths and all four tables' metadata. Zenodo
guidance now describes draft creation and upload before maintainer publication.
  • Artifact validation now checks complete source projections, values, duplicate keys,
membership edges, schema hashes, and required metadata before CI rebuilds exports.
  • Enrichment refreshes usable provider-backed observations without renewing untouched
provenance; unknown years and partial inception dates retain honest precision.
  • ECOWAS retains Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger as former members from 2025-01-29,
with 12 current members. Duplicate IDs COMMLEARN, ABCZNZ, and USAN are merged
into COL, ABCANZ, and UNASUR; use the alias map for existing consumer keys.
The catalogue now contains 1269 canonical intblock records. Columnar schemas are unchanged.
  • Release tests inspect final staging artifacts and enforce quality/version checks.
Migration diffs compare recursive source/export contracts with the prior release.
  • Frictionless resources now have unique table/format names (countries-parquet,
countries-csv, etc.) and each distribution descriptor resolves within its bundle.
  • Full-membership queries use member/founding_member explicitly; historical joins
preserve known identifiers such as SU. Formal scope omissions fell from 114
to two documented NGO taxonomy exceptions; validator/analyzer warnings agree.
  • Documentation builds and typechecks run on PRs; repository-external docs links
are resolved before rendering and broken links fail the site build.
