JetPane 1.1.4
JetPane 1.1.4
Adds Check for updates to the tray menu and Settings → About & help. Checks run only on request and include published prereleases. Download update verifies the GitHub archive's SHA-256 checksum and executable version. Restart and install saves settings, closes JetPane, installs through a separate helper and restarts it.
The installer replaces only JetPane.exe, Help.html, README.md and LICENSE. Settings, profiles and unrelated files stay in place. A .jetpane-backup-* folder preserves the previous app and a settings recovery copy; interrupted file replacement is rolled back. Update failures remain local in update.log. Downloads are cancellable and use a temporary Windows folder. No background startup checks or telemetry.
Validation includes release/version selection, cancellation and HTTP failures, bad checksums, unsafe/incomplete archives, settings preservation, rollback, staged-file tampering, and a real helper handoff/restart into an isolated smoke instance. Versions before 1.1.4 need one manual upgrade to gain the updater. Keep the executable named JetPane.exe and its folder writable. In-app installation runs with normal user permissions; elevated instances and protected folders need a manual upgrade.
JetPane 1.1.3
JetPane 1.1.3
Fixes a reproduced UI freeze when another application is unresponsive. Cross-thread show, resize and stacking requests are queued instead of waiting on that application's message loop. This covers startup restoration, automatic restoration, profiles, snapping, swapping, locations and clean-desktop minimization.
Window scans now query executable paths with limited process access instead of inspecting the main module, and reuse process identity within each scan.
An owned stalled-window reproduction blocked the UI for 3,781 ms in 1.1.2 and returned in 12 ms with the fix on the development machine. Seven new regressions cover stalled targets, normal external placement, and minimized/maximized state. Total local self-tests: 57 across two monitors, including the existing 19 deterministic state checks. Portable startup trials did not establish a reliable packaging benefit, so the existing self-contained distribution format is retained.
The reported computer was not remotely inspected. These measurements demonstrate the reproduced defect and its fix, not that computer's launch time. Extract the full ZIP into a writable folder. Exit the old version and preserve settings.json when replacing it.
JetPane 1.1.2
JetPane 1.1.2
Fixes two settings restart failures, accidental removal of unrelated profile shortcuts, lost automatic restores during quiet periods, excluded apps being re-saved, and implicit numpad shortcut collisions. Legacy inactive snap locks are cleared on load so affected settings can open again. Imports reject conflicting spellings of the reserved Default profile before replacement.
Profile shortcut assignments are validated before mutation. Swapping panes uses one window snapshot. Release workflows now require verification, use fresh output, enforce test timeouts, and check actual smoke-test hotkey registration with an isolated binding.
Validation: 19 deterministic state regression checks; 50 total self-test checks on a two-monitor desktop; isolated tray smoke test; website/help consistency. Physical docking, login startup and broad third-party application compatibility remain outside this verification. Portable Windows x64, self-contained .NET 10; schema-1 settings and .wpilot compatibility retained.
JetPane v1.1.1
JetPane 1.1.0
JetPane is a portable Windows x64 desktop-layout manager with profiles spanning monitors, visual arrangement previews, editable placement locations and custom global shortcuts.
Extract the complete portable ZIP to a writable folder and run JetPane.exe. No installer or separate .NET installation is required. Help.html covers every option. Settings remain beside the executable; login startup is optional and disabled initially.
The release includes the approved airplane icon. This is an early prerelease: 31 local checks and a tray smoke test passed, while physical docking, login startup, real editor gestures and broad application compatibility still need wider validation. One saved profile position per process name. Elevated/system windows have limitations. See README and help for the full boundaries.
Attached SHA256SUMS.txt verifies download integrity. Binaries are currently unsigned. The full source, website, screenshots, documentation and design history are in the repository under the existing MIT license.
