Version 2.0 of Command X
After downloading the app, put it into your Applications folder and run it, it will say it couldn't be verified but that's okay, it simply means the app wasn't notarized by Apple even though its signed with a dev account, to open it, go to System Settings->Privacy & Security and scroll down to the bottom until you reach the "Security" area, there will be a part that says "Command X Free was blocked to protect your mac" simply click on the "Open Anyway" button and confirm, after that, it will ask for accessibility permissions, you have to allow for it to be able to know when you press cmd+x, after allowing, the app will restart automatically and thats it, to check that its running just check the icon top bar and see if there's a scissor icon, if yes then you're good to go, just use CMD-X to cut and CMD-V to paste.
To have it launch at login you have to manually add it, simply go to System Settings->General->Login Item & Extensions and click on the + sign at the bottom left of the first list at the top of the page, then just go to where you left the Command X app and select it, and it will start again when you turn off your PC.
NEW FEATURE: To hide the menu bar icon, you can click on it and select "Hide Menu Bar Icon". Once hidden, you can restore it using either of these methods:
Keyboard Shortcut: Press Cmd+Shift+X from anywhere on your system
Terminal Command: If the shortcut doesn't work, open Terminal and type:
defaults write com.davidventura.command-x.Command-X-Free MenuBarVisible -bool true
Then restart the app. Note: Terminal will ask for permission to access the app's data - click "Allow" when prompted.
The app will remember your preference, so if you hide it, it will stay hidden even after restarting your Mac until you choose to show it again.
UPDATING: To update to the latest version please remove the old Command X application from your applications folder and download the new one, after downloading add it to the applications folder and run it.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If for some reason the CMD+X doesn't work, quit the Command X Free app either from clicking on the icon and then "Quit", or open "Activity Monitor" and search for Command X, the app should appear, click on the app, and click on the X icon on the left side of the center buttons for switching between CPU, Memory, Energy etc.
After closing the app, open "System Settings", click on "Privacy & Security", click on "Accessibility", click on "Command X Free" and click on the minus (-) at the bottom left of the app list, after its removed from the list, run the Command X app again and it should request for the accessibility permission again, allow it, and then try the command+x shortcut again and it should work.
