Added

  • Restart as administrator. A new item at the bottom of the sidebar
restarts PowerLink with admin rights and reopens the current page with
the same folders, so you don't have to run the whole app elevated
all the time. While elevated, the title bar says (Administrator).
  • Skipped-folder warning. Dedup and Inspector used to skip folders they
couldn't read without saying anything. They now show how many were
skipped, with a Restart as administrator button. Some system folders
(e.g. System Volume Information) stay unreadable even for
administrators, and the warning says so.

Changed

  • While running as administrator, Explorer integration (context menu,
drag-and-drop, Windows 11 menu) and installing updates are disabled,
with a note at the top of Settings. These settings are stored per user,
and an administrator session may belong to a different account.
Change them from PowerLink started normally.
  • Mapped network drives and subst drives are passed to the administrator
copy as their real paths (\\server\share\…), because an elevated
session doesn't see the drive letters of the normal one.

Fixed

  • No more crash when PowerLink runs as administrator (#4).
The WinUI folder/file pickers (Windows.Storage.Pickers) fail with
E_FAIL in an elevated process, and the unhandled exception closed the
app as soon as you clicked Add folder or Browse. PowerLink now uses
the classic Windows file dialog, which works both elevated and not. If
even that dialog fails, you get a box to paste the path instead of a
    crash.
  • Unhandled errors are now written to %LocalAppData%\PowerLink\error.log
with a full stack trace, so crash reports carry more than a Windows
    Event Log entry.
  • Restart Explorer and Clear icon cache now only restart your own
Explorer. Run as administrator, they would also have killed Explorer for
other signed-in users (fast user switching, Remote Desktop).
