Able to Drag n Drop table as Context (ddl) in Github Copilot Chatview

hello, is it possible to do this,
so im in mysql/mariadb database,

could we just drag and drop the table name to the github copilot,
and it will directly attached as table specs (ddl)

i tried both db name and table name, it show connectionId and db name for database, but for the table it returns error

So I have run some tests, looks like this is now possible (I am using the latest vscode, not insiders).

I don't have full create table scripting in place (some drivers need to use their CLI tools to pull it accurately) but it's what I am working on at the moment.. so as I add support for drivers this will start working.

You can try it with the latest release of the extension if you drag a view into copilot, it can tell you about the view (eg it gets it's dll)..

Do you also want to use this as a way to have copilot query the table/view ? If so I will need to see if I can some how direct the ai to use the data from the uri to feed the co pilot tools..

Thanks, its indeed work for views, 🙏🏻

based on my test, copilot is smart enaugh to automaticly detect it, its triggering the available tools, based on the query, its depends on model choosed

i think the more useful one is right click add context to database items, selected row to copilot chat,

When highlight a code and right click, vs code provide context menu add selection to chat and add file to chat,

i would be nice if you can mimic this behavior on some data in database, this is my sql example
right click on left side of items row

or maybe the selection instead of that left side row, however this is achievable by manually copy as json pretty on selection then paste it on Copilot

Other nice to have is drag and drop, but maybe this will conflict with existing behavior, which is selecting row

Okay table dragging should work 1.17.7, still sorting out some issues with Postgres, SQL Server, Snowflake and Oracle, but others should work.

For now it looks like those API's are not public yet so I cannot access them.. but if they do expose them I will add an option to send the data from the grid straight to the chat context.. Today I can probably open it as a new content in the question/prompt box.. but not sure that's as helpful.
