As of 20220907 There is a new version of courseware for SALE- there is NO new exam version. If you buy $2200 course you get lab and unlimited retakes. At $1100 per exam attempt, this might be an option.

If you do the work to prepare and only want to spend $1100

To sign up for the exam you must follow the ECCouncil process exactly. This process is intentionally cumbersome and scary in order to convince you to spend money, more money. I have completed it 4 times. The term for this process is "challenging an EC-Council certification Exam."

  1. If you do not have 2 years experience, a CV stating 2 years experience, a state issued identification, and a job where your superior will vouch for those 2 years- STOP.


  2. Fill out the form: https://cert.eccouncil.org/Exam-Eligibility-Form.html 1a. If you are attending O' classes: You are interested in Direct exam. 1b. This will "allow" a form to be emailed to you. (along with being trapped in marketing database)

  3. This form "EC-Council Exam Eligibility Application Form" is always being changed. Do NOT submit an old version. 2a. "Supervisor Name & e-mail:" = they will contact them when they are good and ready.

  4. Buy application fee: https://store.eccouncil.org/product/eligibility-application-fee/

  5. Ensure that your Eligibility Application form is submitted with your eligibility application fee receipt.

  6. "Email the scanned copy of application form along with identification proof and updated resume to..."

  7. Wait... Wait... Wait... at least 3 BUSINESS days

  8. Email them and ask what is taking so long

  9. ?APPROVED TO BUY EXAM VOUCHER - DO NOT BUY EXAM BEFORE APPROVAL?

  10. Buy exam via ECC for their online system (not PROMETRIC) https://store.eccouncil.org/product/ceh-ecc-exam-center-voucher/ $950

  11. Follow the next set of instructions to sit your exam. They will changes this set of instructions often.


    Many certification bodies do this convoluted process to drive business to their training. ECC has perfected it. Do not try to change it, get mad, or start a war. Please do not give them any more money that absolutely necessary. Get your cert and move on.
