🔊 Electronics for performances of union|haze by Chris Swithinbank.

This is a package for Cycling 74’s Max software. If you don’t own Max, you can download a copy from Cycling 74’s website for free.

To install this package:

  1. Download the latest version.

  2. Unzip it to your packages directory:
    ~/Documents/Max/Packages for Max 6, ~/Documents/Max 7/Packages for Max 7, or ~/Documents/Max 8/Packages for Max 8.

  3. Open or restart Max.

Performance Set-up

A performance of union|haze requires the following technical set-up for this patch:

  • a computer running this Max package
  • two aluminium sheets (60 × 90cm, 0.5mm thick)
  • two small transducers/vibration speakers
  • audio interface or stereo splitter to send the left output to the left transducer and the right output to the right transducer

(Additionally the piece is fully amplified, with the aluminium sheets also being amplified. See the score for more details.)
