Agent Gauge 0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Sep 00:17

Agent Gauge is a local desktop widget for Linux and Windows that shows your AI-agent subscription usage at a glance. It reads what your signed-in CLIs already know and never makes a model call.

Downloads

Platform File Size
Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint) Agent.Gauge_0.5.0_amd64.deb 4.4 MB
Linux (any distribution) Agent.Gauge_0.5.0_amd64.AppImage 78 MB
Windows (recommended) Agent.Gauge_0.5.0_x64_en-US.msi 4.2 MB
Windows (NSIS installer) Agent.Gauge_0.5.0_x64-setup.exe 2.9 MB

No build tools or development packages are required to run Agent Gauge.

Major changes

  • Claude usage is read from the desktop app when the endpoint cannot answer. Claude Code is what refreshes the sign-in token the usage endpoint needs, so working mainly in the Claude desktop app left that sign-in expired and the gauge stuck on its last reading. Agent Gauge now falls back to the desktop app's own record of plan usage, which needs no terminal session, no request and no credentials of its own.
  • Usage sources are ranked by how current a reading is, rather than by which source produced it. The status-line capture still answers on its own during a terminal session, and the usage endpoint keeps its poll floor; a reading is used only while nothing fresher is available.
  • A window with no reset time of its own reuses the last one the endpoint reported, provided it has not yet passed, so a countdown survives a fallback instead of disappearing.

Bug fixes

  • A reading replayed from the usage endpoint's cache is no longer preferred over a fresher one. When the endpoint could not be reached its last reading was replayed indefinitely, so an expired sign-in pinned the widget to whatever it saw last — which is how a five-hour window with no activity in it could show a confident 0% hours after the fact.
  • The Linux widget now shows the reason a reading has stopped moving. That message was produced for both renderers but only drawn by the Windows one; on Linux it merely tinted the status label, so a card read Stale without saying why.

Upgrading

Existing settings and cached readings are preserved, and no preference is changed. The desktop-app fallback needs no setup: it is used automatically when it has something more current to offer.

Installing

Linux: open the .deb in your software manager, or run:

sudo apt install ./Agent.Gauge_0.5.0_amd64.deb

Then launch Agent Gauge from the application menu. For the AppImage, mark it executable and run it.

Windows: run the .msi or -setup.exe. It installs per user and needs no administrator rights. WebView2 is fetched automatically if it is missing.

Installers are unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run. Choose More info → Run anyway.

The first run opens Settings. The widget is controlled from the tray icon.

Agent Gauge 0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Sep 00:45

Agent Gauge is a local desktop widget for Linux and Windows that shows your AI-agent subscription usage at a glance. It reads what your signed-in CLIs already know and never makes a model call.

Downloads

Platform File Size
Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint) Agent.Gauge_0.4.0_amd64.deb 4.4 MB
Linux (any distribution) Agent.Gauge_0.4.0_amd64.AppImage 78 MB
Windows (recommended) Agent.Gauge_0.4.0_x64_en-US.msi 4.1 MB
Windows (NSIS installer) Agent.Gauge_0.4.0_x64-setup.exe 2.8 MB

No build tools or development packages are required to run Agent Gauge.

Major changes

  • Configurable backup usage check. The interval at which Agent Gauge reads Claude's usage endpoint is now a setting: Settings → Trackers → Backup usage check, with options from 1 to 20 minutes. This check only runs while no terminal session is feeding the status-line capture (for example, when using the Claude desktop app).
  • New default of 10 minutes, down from 15. This is at most six requests an hour. Reading usage does not consume it.

Bug fixes

  • A backup interval shorter than the widget's refresh interval is now honoured. Previously the endpoint was only consulted on a widget refresh, so a shorter interval had no effect.

Upgrading

Existing settings are preserved. The new setting is added with its default value; no other preference is changed.

Installing

Linux: open the .deb in your software manager, or run:

sudo apt install ./Agent.Gauge_0.4.0_amd64.deb

Then launch Agent Gauge from the application menu. For the AppImage, mark it executable and run it.

Windows: run the .msi or -setup.exe. It installs per user and needs no administrator rights. WebView2 is fetched automatically if it is missing.

Installers are unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run. Choose More info → Run anyway.

The first run opens Settings. The widget is controlled from the tray icon.

Agent Gauge 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Sep 23:55

Agent Gauge is a local desktop widget for Linux and Windows that shows your AI-agent subscription usage at a glance. It reads what your signed-in CLIs already know and never makes a model call.

Downloads

Platform File Size
Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint) Agent.Gauge_0.3.1_amd64.deb 4.4 MB
Linux (any distribution) Agent.Gauge_0.3.1_amd64.AppImage 78 MB
Windows (recommended) Agent.Gauge_0.3.1_x64_en-US.msi 4.1 MB
Windows (NSIS installer) Agent.Gauge_0.3.1_x64-setup.exe 2.8 MB

No build tools or development packages are required to run Agent Gauge.

Major changes

Included from 0.3.0, which was not published as a separate release.

  • Claude usage now works outside the terminal. The Claude desktop app never runs the status-line capture, which previously left the Claude gauge empty. When a capture is more than two minutes old, Agent Gauge reads the same usage endpoint Claude Code polls, using the sign-in already stored in ~/.claude/.credentials.json.
  • The endpoint is asked at most once every 15 minutes, and only while no terminal session is running. Credentials are read, never written; refreshing an expired sign-in remains Claude Code's job. Reading usage does not consume it.

Bug fixes

  • The usage-endpoint poll now holds its 15-minute interval after a failed attempt as well as a successful one. A rate-limited or rejected request is no longer retried faster than a working one.
  • The widget's saved position now survives a restart.

Installing

Linux: open the .deb in your software manager, or run:

sudo apt install ./Agent.Gauge_0.3.1_amd64.deb

Then launch Agent Gauge from the application menu. For the AppImage, mark it executable and run it.

Windows: run the .msi or -setup.exe. It installs per user and needs no administrator rights. WebView2 is fetched automatically if it is missing.

Installers are unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run. Choose More info → Run anyway.

The first run opens Settings. The widget is controlled from the tray icon.
