NECRODRONE 0.6.0
The first public release of NECRODRONE: a drone synthesizer for Android, built for black metal and lo-fi recording.
Install
- Download necrodrone-0.6.0.apk below on your Android phone (Android 8.0 or newer).
- Open it. The first time, Android asks you to allow installs from your browser or file manager.
- Headphones recommended: phone speakers can't play the deepest notes.
Future updates install over this one and keep your saved patches.
What it does
- Drones: six held voices through detuned oscillators, filters (including a vowel/choir filter), slow drift and modulation. 25 presets, from Funeral Fog and Catacomb Hum to Monastery, Black Sun and Starless.
- Keys layer: pads (or a MIDI keyboard) play over the drone, always in its key. 15 keys presets (strings, organ, bells, choir, a hoover…), and BLEND crossfades them toward the drone's own tone.
- Shape it: DARK, MOTION, FILTH, SPACE and ECHO each move many settings at once; MORPH glides into another preset over up to 20 minutes; lock every preset to one key; A=432/440 and pure tuning.
- Loop and freeze: a pedal-style looper with fade and tape-wear overdubs, half speed and reverse; FREEZE holds whatever you're playing as an endless pad.
- Built for tape: mono check, low cut, steady-level compressor and a 1 kHz test tone for recording to cassette or 4-track, plus optional tape emulation. 24-bit WAV recorder.
- Plug things in: guitar or mic through a USB audio interface; USB/Bluetooth MIDI with learn on every control and a one-tap Akai MPK Mini MK3 layout.
- Keeps playing with the screen off. Works upright or sideways. Full manual in the app's ? tab.
