v4.78.6
4.78.6 (2026-10-14)

- preserve boolean attributes and narrow the empty heading ID warning (c268281)
- preserve heading attributes and anchor URLs (8cd76e1)
- restrict empty heading ID warnings to terminal attributes (793191e)
Heading anchor compatibility
Explicit heading IDs now take effect consistently. This can change existing heading URLs:
- Without the includes plugin,
## Title {#a .b}changes its URL from#titleto#a. With includes, the former#title-a-balso becomes#a. - A block such as
{#custom Multiple Words}now uses#custominstead of the former automatic slug. The following words remain boolean attributes; they are not discarded or treated as an invalid multi-word ID.
Existing links to the former automatic URLs may need updating.
Empty shorthand IDs, such as {# section-id} or {#}, fall back to an automatic anchor. The anchors plugin emits a marker for the companion YFM024 warning only when an empty shorthand ID occurs in the final heading attribute block.
Extracted TOC titles are trimmed for all headings, not only headings with attributes. Visible heading boundaries and anchor labels are trimmed too; spaces inside inline content are preserved.
