Agentaps now uses Rio's Rust terminal core with GPUI rendering on Linux and macOS. Terminal builds no longer need Zig, libc++, or libxml2, and Linux terminals can use GPUI's X11 backend.
The new reusable gpui-rio crate provides VT/PTY integration, rendering, input, selection, scrollback, clipboard, and IME support. Terminals follow the app's colors and zoom, using an installed monospace font at 13 px at default zoom. Shells stay running across hide/show and session switches.
Downloads include Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 DEBs, Linux AppImage, macOS Apple Silicon DMG, and Windows installer. The macOS build is ad hoc signed and is not notarized; the Windows installer is unsigned. Windows embedded terminals, terminal graphics, and application mouse reporting are not supported.
Validation: cross-platform tests and package builds passed. The exact Ubuntu 24.04 package passed installation, runtime library resolution, and isolated X11 tests of shell input, retained shell across hide/show, PTY resize, and Ctrl+D exit. Clean Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 installation checks passed, and all installer checksums were verified. macOS and Windows GUI smoke tests were not performed.
