V1.0.2-RC4
mouse-php v1.0.2-RC4 Release Notes
This release brings mouse-php to Release Candidate 4, In this version we have changed how mRPC is handled meaning this is once again a major breaking update. The reason for this change however is that replay attack check should now be significantly faster as they do not rely on a sqlite check. mRPC should also be more secure as the whole envelope is now part of the signature. The colby-jack and mrpc-js NPM packages have also been updated which means that if you are running the new version of mouse-php you must update colby-jack for the new mRPC spec compatibility.
Changes
- mRPC signature now more secure and efficient
- Rate limiting middleware module removed from the default global middleware.
V1.0.2-RC3
mouse-php v1.0.2-RC3 Release Notes
This release brings mouse-php to Release Candidate 3, moving us one step closer to our first full stable release. RC3 focuses heavily on refining the out-of-the-box authentication flow and streamlining the developer experience for decoupled frontends. To achieve this, we are officially introducing our new mRPC protocol, complete with a dedicated JavaScript library to make frontend-backend authentication and communication effortless.
New Features
-
mRPC Protocol & JS Library: Created the official mRPC specification, a new mRPC-compliant response utility for the backend, and a companion JavaScript library to easily integrate decoupled frontends.
-
Full Documentation: Comprehensive documentation is now officially included.
-
Squeak CLI Expansion: Added the
add-utilitycommand and new scaffolding capabilities to Squeak. -
PostgreSQL Support: Introduced a Postgres-specific version of the User model.
-
Handshake Security: Added Thundering Herd protection for the KLI handshake.
Updates & Enhancements
-
Lazy Database Connections: Major performance win, database connections are no longer opened until after the routing engine has successfully validated the route.
-
Database Utility Overhaul: Reworked and appropriately renamed the Database Utility to fully support PostgreSQL and pave the way for future database driver inclusions.
-
Auth Scaffolding Rework: Audited and reworked the basic authentication scaffold and its routing layer to match the new architectural approach. The scaffold now prompts you to pick a database-specific version of the model.
-
Welcome Page Polish: Cleaned up the footer layout, made the primary buttons and links point to the actual documentation/quick start guides, and updated the default code block text to be more useful out of the box.
Architecture & Breaking Changes
-
Decoupled Authentication: Authentication is no longer handled by an explicit tag in the routing data. To secure a route, simply place it inside the security
middlewaregroup. -
Middleware Data Injection: Middleware data is now directly injected into the
$REQUEST_DATAproperty, safely nested under the"middleware_data"key.
Bug Fixes
- Squeak Routing: Resolved an issue where Squeak would fail to operate correctly if the routing table was empty.
Version 1.0.1
This Version moves the RC version of 1.0.0 to RC 1.0.1 with bug fixes that were breaking key features of the framework and it's tooling. After some building a bit with the framework and running some Autocanon test this patch brings this pretty solid base for the framework closer to the first full release. We will also be releasing a development road-map once the Docs have been fully written that will be outlining the addition of tests, expansion of DB coverage, and improvements to Squeak tooling we have planned.
This patch fixes:
- Problem where add-route would not be able to properly read methods inside of a controller preventing the use of that command to add routes.
- Fixed bug in the deploy command where the
mouse.dbSQLite file would not be added to thedistdirectory preventing the deployed version of the web app from running properly. - Added some clarifying text to the .ENV wizard for the deployment config line
HOST_FOLDER_PATHto make it more clear how to structure the file path. - Fixed bug in the routing system of mouse-php that was causing it to not read existing routes and give a 404 error incorrectly.
- Fixed bug in the middleware engine where routes that were supposed to be bypassing global middleware were still executing global middleware.
