Fast Lane v0.2.1
Added
- Fast Lane looks for a newer release when it starts and once a day. When
one is out, a line above the key help says so, and Settings → Version
shows it;enterthere opens the release page.con the Settings tab
looks again.
Install: go install github.com/drlholloway/fast-lane@latest, or download the archive for your machine, extract it, and put fast-lane somewhere on your PATH (/usr/local/bin, ~/bin, ~/go/bin). macOS: the binary is not notarized, so on first run macOS may refuse it; xattr -d com.apple.quarantine fast-lane clears that, or open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Verify a download against SHA256SUMS with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.
You also need the GitHub CLI, logged in, and Claude Code. Run fast-lane -version to confirm which build you have. Help and how-tos are on the wiki. Full history: CHANGELOG.md
Fast Lane v0.2.0
Added
- Full auto, a third auto-run setting per repo and for the inbox. Every
trigger runs and Claude acts on its own judgment: approving or requesting
changes, merging, pushing, commenting and closing, without asking. Only a
human may delete or transfer a repository or destroy its history: Fast Lane
checks every command a full-auto session runs and refuses those, adds
GitHub rulesets protecting the default branch and tags when you turn it on,
and warns if your login has thedelete_reposcope. - A security policy, contributing guide, code of conduct, issue and pull
request templates, CI on Linux and macOS, and release builds for macOS and
Linux attached to each GitHub Release.
Fast Lane v0.1.1
A small fix release.
Fixed
- Fast Lane no longer crashes when the terminal is resized while the rule form is open (outside its prompt editor), or while a single-line setting such as Poll interval is being edited.
Also
- The wiki now has screenshots of every tab and dialog, and the README links to it.
- For contributors:
FASTLANE_SCREENSHOTS=<folder> go test ./internal/tui -run TestScreenshotsre-renders those screenshots from made-up demo data. See Building from source.
Upgrading
go install github.com/drlholloway/fast-lane@v0.1.1Your config and session history carry over.
Fast Lane v0.1.0
The first release of Fast Lane, a terminal app that watches your GitHub repositories and hands routine maintenance to Claude Code: reviewing PRs, fixing CI, bumping dependencies, answering mentions. It asks you only when a decision is yours.
Highlights
- Watch any repo you can see. Pick repos from your own, starred, and ones where you have open PRs. Fast Lane polls their pull requests, issues, Dependabot alerts and code scanning alerts, using the GitHub CLI's login.
- React to what changes, not just what's new. Triggers fire when a PR is opened, gets changes requested, fails CI, hits a merge conflict, gets a comment, is pushed to, is marked ready, or is labeled. Your own activity never triggers anything, and each change fires once.
- Your inbox, handled. Review requests, @-mentions and assignments from your notifications, on any repo, start a session that prepares the review or reply and asks before posting.
- Rules decide what runs on its own. Auto rules, keyed by kind and trigger, filter by severity, labels, authors, drafts and bots. Each sets its own prompt, model, effort, and the actions Claude may take without asking: edit, push, open or update PRs, comment, label, review, close, merge, dismiss alerts. A key can hold several rules, and the first match wins.
- Sessions pick up where they left off. A trigger on an item resumes its last Claude session, so Claude keeps what it learned. Permission prompts and questions open as dialogs in the TUI.
- Works from your checkouts, never in them. Fast Lane finds your local clones in
code_dirsand gives each session its own git worktree of them. Nothing is cloned again, and your working tree is never touched. Repos without a checkout are cloned into a workspace. - Everything is set up in the TUI. The Rules tab edits auto rules globally or per repo. The Settings tab checks prerequisites (gh and its scopes, notifications, Claude Code, git, folders), with a fix for each problem, and edits every setting: polling, concurrency, model, effort, permission mode, budget, allowed tools, prompts and more.
Safe by default
- Auto-run is off until you turn it on for a repo, and items that existed before you started watching never run on their own.
- Claude can read freely, but asks before editing, pushing, commenting, reviewing, merging or dismissing, unless a rule allows that action. It always asks before pushing to the default branch or force-pushing.
gh apiis pre-approved for reads only.max_auto_runscaps how often auto-run acts on one item, so a fix that keeps failing CI can't loop forever.
Getting started
You need the GitHub CLI, logged in, and Claude Code. Then:
go install github.com/drlholloway/fast-lane@v0.1.0
fast-lanePress 5 to check your setup, 3 to watch a repo, and 1 to see what's open. The README's Getting started section walks through the rest.
