Dum-E v0.1.0-alpha.3
Dum-E v0.1.0-alpha.3
This Alpha introduces an expanded Updates window and smoother table switching.
What’s changed
- New Updates window with installed and available versions, preview/stable channel information, manual checks, and release notes.
- Daily automatic update checks against the official Dum-E GitHub releases. Downloads and installation remain manual.
- Updates window follows Dum-E’s light and dark themes and includes links to companion tools.
- Keep the current table visible while a new table’s rows and metadata load, reducing loading-screen flashes.
- Share cached table metadata between the inspector and editable grid, avoiding duplicate requests and flicker when returning to a table.
- Reset table filters, sorting, and row selection before painting the newly selected table.
Download and installation
- Apple Silicon Macs (arm64), macOS 13.5 or later.
- Download
Dum-E_0.1.0-alpha.3_aarch64.dmg, quit Dum-E, open the DMG, and replace Dum-E in Applications. - Saved connections and preferences are retained. Save SQL work and finish active queries before quitting.
SHA256SUMS.txtcontains the installer checksum.- The app is ad-hoc signed and passes strict bundle signature verification. It is not Developer ID signed or Apple notarized; macOS may block downloaded builds.
- Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux have not been validated. Installation on another Mac and interactive UI verification remain pending.
Validation
- 50 frontend tests passed, including shared metadata caching, retry behavior, and stale-response protection.
- 13 native unit/SQLite/storage/update tests passed. The 4 PostgreSQL integration tests were not run for this release.
- TypeScript, production frontend build, and Rust formatting checks passed.
- Native Apple Silicon app and DMG built locally; complete app bundle signature verified.
This remains an Alpha release. Report issues with reproduction steps and sanitized screenshots at https://github.com/duckfollow/dum-e/issues.
Dum-E v0.1.0-alpha.2
Dum-E v0.1.0-alpha.2
This Alpha adds reusable SQL scripts, query history, clearer SQL suggestions, update notifications, and connection management.
What’s new
- Query history: search the latest 200 manual runs in the current session, inspect SQL, connection, timestamp, duration, and success/failure, then open a query in a new tab.
- Saved scripts: save named SQL scripts on this device, remember their connection, search, edit, update, remove, and reopen them across app launches. Opening a script does not run it.
- Consistent SQL colors: highlighting in the editor, history, saved scripts, table SQL definitions, index definitions, expressions, and mutation previews; supports light and dark themes.
- Schema-aware suggestions: completion lists show the schema and insert quoted qualified names such as
"shop_demo"."customers". Tables sharing a name across schemas remain separate choices. Existingsearch_pathsettings are unchanged. - Editor layout: History, Save script, and Saved scripts controls now sit in the editor footer beside the Full SQL note.
- Update notifications: automatic daily GitHub Release checks, a manual Check for updates button, and Download/Later actions. Preview builds receive newer preview and stable versions; stable builds receive stable versions only. Download opens the release page; installation remains manual.
- Connection management: connection options sit inside the row, with Edit and confirmed Remove actions. Editing an active connection disconnects it first. Removal deletes saved settings and the Keychain password, while retaining SQL tabs, saved scripts, and database data.
- Fixed mouse clicks closing the connection menu before the edit form opened.
Download and requirements
- macOS 13.5 or later on Apple Silicon (arm64).
- Download
Dum-E_0.1.0-alpha.2_aarch64.dmg, open it, and drag Dum-E into Applications. SHA256SUMS.txtprovides the installer checksum.- The complete app bundle is ad-hoc signed and passes strict signature verification. It is not Developer ID signed or Apple notarized; macOS may block a downloaded build. Independent installation testing on another Mac remains pending.
- Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux are not validated for this release.
Data and compatibility
- Existing saved connections and database files are retained.
- Saved scripts persist in local WebView storage on this device. Query history and open tabs/results are session-only. Auto Run is not included in query history.
- SQL runs with the connected database user’s or SQLite file’s permissions. Changes made by running SQL apply directly; a failed multi-statement script does not guarantee earlier statements were rolled back.
- Update checks send the app version to GitHub and do not send SQL or connection details.
Validation
- 47 frontend tests passed.
- 12 native unit/SQLite/storage/update tests passed.
- All 4 isolated PostgreSQL 17 integration tests passed.
- TypeScript and production frontend build passed; native arm64 app and DMG built locally.
- Strict complete app-bundle signature verification passed.
