- creates a blank file
git clone <html>
- copies our repo to our computer

- adds file to the stage to be committed

- Saves a group of changes and creates a message description
git checkout -b <branch name>
- Changes our current branch to a new branch with branch name

- Takes any local changes we committed to the remote repository
