v0.2.1
KinoDraw 0.2.1: the KinoDraw Cloud AI director now works without an account.
What's new
- AI director with no account. Choose KinoDraw Cloud AI in the Studio, or
kinodraw make --director cloudon the command line, and it plans your video for free: no email, no code, no API key. Signing in with your email in Settings is optional. Offline is still selected when you first open the app, so nothing leaves your computer until you choose Cloud. - No "find devices on local networks" prompt on Mac. KinoDraw 0.2.0 asked for local network access before its window opened, and playing a video could ask again. The Studio no longer looks up its own address or looks for AirPlay devices, which is what set it off.
- Clearer sign-in email problems. If KinoDraw Cloud can't send the sign-in email, Settings (and
kinodraw login) says so in one plain sentence, with when to try again, instead of a short "KinoDraw Cloud 502" error. - Privacy. Without a sign-in, the app sends KinoDraw Cloud a random ID for this installation (no email) to get its token. The privacy page lists what KinoDraw Cloud keeps.
Install
macOS (Apple silicon, M1 or newer)
- Download
KinoDraw-v0.2.1-macos.zipand double-click it to unzip. - Drag KinoDraw into your Applications folder.
- Open KinoDraw. macOS will say it can't check the app for malware. Click Done (not Move to Trash).
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security. Next to "KinoDraw.app was blocked to protect your Mac", click Open Anyway.
- Click Open Anyway again in the pop-up, then use Touch ID or your Mac password. You only do this once; after that KinoDraw opens normally. Step by step, with pictures: first time opening on a Mac.
This happens because KinoDraw isn't notarized by Apple yet. The app is open source, and every release is built from this repository's code by GitHub Actions.
Windows
- Download
KinoDraw-v0.2.1-windows.zip, right-click it and choose Extract All. - Open the KinoDraw folder and run KinoDraw.exe.

The first video downloads the voice (about 190 MB) and the doodle search (about 70 MB), once.

v0.2.0
Here's KinoDraw!
It's a free, open-source app that turns any script into a narrated, hand-drawn explainer video, now with a second look, your own voice, and a first run that works without an account.
What's new
- Narrate in your own voice. Record yourself (or upload a take) on the Narrator tab. KinoDraw checks it sentence by sentence against your script, tells you exactly which sentence or part doesn't match, and cuts the video to your real timing.
- Paper-collage promo look. Next to the whiteboard explainer: a cut-out paper puppet, stickers, a brand reveal and an end card, with music and sound effects mixed in. Pick it under Style in the Studio.
- No account needed for your first video. The Studio opens on a finished example video, and the offline director is selected until you sign in.
- Clearer first run. Downloads show megabytes and percent, and the download page walks you through opening the app the first time.
- Privacy. The app no longer sends onnxruntime usage events to Microsoft (fixed in 0.1.6, carried forward), and the privacy page now covers your own AI key, every download host and the website itself.
- A short end card. Every video ends with a 2-second "Made with KinoDraw" card. It's on by default; turn it off in the Studio under Settings → Videos, or with
kinodraw make --no-credit. - Windows fixes. Chinese videos, project folders named in another language, and your own recordings no longer stop the voice step.

v0.1.6
v0.1.6: the app no longer sends onnxruntime usage events to Microsoft Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
v0.1.5
Fixes sign-in and the first voice download on the Mac. On most Macs, v0.1.4 couldn't verify any secure connection ("CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED"), so Email me a code and the first voice download both failed. The app now carries its own list of trusted certificates, and every release is tested the way a fresh Mac runs it before it's published.
Install
- macOS (Apple silicon, M1 or newer): download
DoodleStudio-v0.1.5-macos.zip, unzip, drag Doodle Studio to Applications and open it. The first time, macOS blocks it: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (the app isn't notarized by Apple yet). - Windows: download

Doodle Studio 0.1.4
The AI director is on. Doodle Cloud plans each section's pictures with GPT-6 Luna: 5 free AI-directed videos a month, no API key, sign in with an email code. The offline director stays one click away and needs no account.
- The Mac app is signed with a stable identity, so a saved sign-in survives updates.
- Choosing Doodle Cloud without an account opens the sign-in instead of failing; if Doodle Cloud can't take a video (monthly allowance, busy day, no network), the offline director plans it and the app says so.
- A privacy page, a feedback link in the app, corrected licence notices (the packaged app includes GPL components; source offer inside).
Install
- macOS (Apple silicon, M1 or newer): download
DoodleStudio-v0.1.4-macos.zip, unzip, drag Doodle Studio to Applications and open it. The first time, macOS blocks it: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (the app isn't notarized by Apple yet). - Windows: download
