v0.2.0
The first tagged build of nocturn — a secure personal assistant in Go. One binary, no foreign
runtime, no database, no cloud: it orchestrates an LLM through permission-gated, human-approved
tools, and every risky effect is asked out of band on a paired second device.
Alpha. The wire protocol, the tooling and the feature set all still move.
Getting it
Download the archive for your platform, unpack it, and run ./nocturn. Point it at an
OpenAI-compatible endpoint — see .env.example. nocturn version prints this tag.
The macOS builds are unsigned. Gatekeeper will quarantine them; allow the binary under
System Settings → Privacy & Security, or build from source with go build ./cmd/nocturn.
checksums.txt covers every archive.
What is in it
A full-screen terminal chat, an out-of-band approval gate with durable grants, WASM-sandboxed
plugins and scripts, MCP clients, scheduled agents, retrieval over a knowledge mount, speaker
recognition, and a companion app for iOS and Android — released separately as mobile-v0.1.0.
The ESP32-S3 satellite firmware is satellite-v0.1.0.
Changelog
This is the first release cut by the pipeline, so the generated list below covers only the commits
after it was seeded — not the history of the project.
Features
- tui: a full-screen terminal surface replaces the line-oriented REPL (44af0c6)
Bug Fixes
- go: the root module requires agentkit/gemini (d16d6a6)
satellite-v0.1.0
Firmware for the Waveshare ESP32-S3-AUDIO-Board.
nocturn-satellite_0.1.0_merged.bin is what a fresh board wants at offset 0. The three separate images — app, bootloader, partition table — are for flashing a board that already has the layout.
There is no OTA: updating means reflashing over serial. See satellite/flash.sh.
mobile-v0.1.0
The second device: where nocturn asks permission before it reaches outside itself.
Android — install nocturn_0.1.0.apk. It is debug-signed, so Android will warn about an unknown source.
iOS — through TestFlight, not here. An .ipa at a GitHub release is installable by nobody.
Without your own nocturn running, tap "Enter server manually" on the first screen and enter demo as the host, port 8765 — sample data, held entirely on the device.
