  • hv_mirror_hist() prints its message only when it drops rows, rather than on
every call. The counts stay in $tables$diagnostics.

  • scales moves from Suggests to Imports. It is already a hard dependency of
ggplot2, so this installs nothing new, and examples and vignettes can use it
    directly.

  • save_manuscript() gains footnote, which prints a figure's provenance in a
strip reserved below the plot, in file and draft_file alike, PDF, PNG and
TIFF. The plot keeps its width x height; the file is taller by the strip,
and the saved dimensions come back in the "dims" attribute of the returned
path ("draft_dims" for the draft). The note is measured with each output
device's own metrics, set at 8 pt and shrunk to fit one line down to a 6 pt
floor; past the floor it wraps, between fields first, so a field that fits
a line, the commit ID among them, is never broken, and then inside a field
too wide for a line at /, . and spaces. It is never clipped. The height
is rounded up to a whole pixel or point, so "dims" reports the height
written. A patchwork keeps every panel.
footnote = NULL, the default, writes exactly what it wrote before
    (hvtiR figure-provenance design, section 3 and R4).

  • New provenance_footnote() builds the note's fields from the parts it is
given, the render commit first and printed as given, never shortened, so a
verified unique abbreviation or an "uncommitted" marker survives whole:
    <commit> · <job path> · R x.y.z · hvtiPlotR a.b.c · hvtiRtemplates d.e.f · YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM.
hvtiPlotR knows nothing of git or studies and takes no new dependency.

  • save_manuscript(footnote =) reports the width written as well as the height,
including from a raster device passed as a function, such as
device = ragg::agg_png, and keeps the note 6 to 8 pt under ragg's scaling,
which clipped it. The strip takes a patchwork's plot_annotation(theme =) background.

  • provenance_footnote() rejects a blank job or commit, and an NA version
    name.

  • make_footnote() no longer says to omit provenance from publication
figures: a saved figure, publication included, takes it from
    save_manuscript(footnote =).
