@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Oct 08:17

FMLarynx 0.1, built and signed on GitHub by the Firmware Hub's shared workflow (the same firmware as 0.1). A throaty talking formant synth with a 303-style pattern sequencer: The synth is a saw wave through a three-formant vowel filter with an envelope, an added resonant LPF with cutoff and a ping-pong delay with drive. The 16-step sequencer has vowels, accent and slide per step, a pattern randomizer and storage for 16 patterns.

Package identity: FM-1_984 · Install: from the Firmware Hub, or fmlarynx-0.1.1.fwsc below with tools/fm1_install.py.

What's in it

  • The voice: a saw through three formant filters on a vowel plane you steer with Tongue and Jaw, with Size, Resonance and Voice (male to female/child), and two LFOs.
  • 303-style: a resonant cutoff whose resonance follows RES, an envelope (Decay, Env Mod, Accent, Amp Decay), accents and real slides.
  • Effects: Drive and a tempo-synced ping-pong Delay.
  • Sequencer: 16 steps with slides, accents and a vowel per step; a randomizer (root, scale) on ARP; live transpose on SEQ; 16 stored patterns (SAVE / SEL + a white key); follows MIDI clock.
  • Screen: the inside of a throat whose opening follows the vowel, the step strip and the keyboard.

All controls are in the README.

Tested on an FM-1

Installed from the official V15, from Dinghy and from Unholy Union; from FMLarynx, Dinghy and Unholy Union install again. Back to the official firmware or anything else from the Firmware Hub; if it ever gets stuck, hold OCT− while switching on for the USB rescue.

GPL-3.0, built on Dinghy by zvenson and the Felucca / SLOOP platform.

Built from source on GitHub
