Crow 0.8.1: polish. A clearer sshd_config editor, a Files screen you can actually read files in, Settings that fit a small window, and a new About box.

Binaries: Linux x86_64 (install.sh puts Crow and its icon under ~/.local) and macOS Apple Silicon (an ad-hoc signed Crow.app: the first launch needs right-click → Open).

sshd_config

  • Security posture at the top: only the risky directives, worst first, each with what its value means and a one-click fix. Password login goes through the guarded flow. Root login goes to prohibit-password when Crow logs in as root, never no, so Crow can't lock itself out.
  • Rows read like a settings page: name, risk and line; what the directive does; the control; what the chosen value means. No fixed columns, so it works in a narrow pane.

Files

  • View a file: click it to open it beside the listing, read-only, highlighted, with line numbers.
  • Permissions: coloured like ls in a modern terminal. Click them to change read/write/execute and the special bits; Crow runs chmod (as root when needed) and records it in the audit log.
  • Edit in terminal: opens the file in nano (or vim, or vi) in a new terminal tab, through sudoedit when your login can't write it.
  • Paths no longer show as //etc/....

Settings

  • Rows, cards and headers fit a narrow window: General, Connection & SSH, Servers & Archives, Clankers and Keys & Rotation.
  • Start maximized (Personalisation).

Elsewhere

  • About box: wider and shorter, with the app icon, the build, and links to the website, the source and the community forum.
  • Menu: Enroll New Server is second and no longer animated. The audit log moved to a Fleet Setup tab.
  • Acknowledgements: every project Crow builds on, by kind, in ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.md. JetBrains Mono's license now ships with the font.
