Warning
Breaking changes. Do these before you upgrade.
- Proxy engine: Pages now load through Scramjet and Wisp instead of Ultraviolet, so self-hosters need to redeploy from this release.
- Running it: Phosphur now runs on Bun 1.2 or newer, so install Bun before upgrading a self-hosted copy.
New
- Tabs: Open, close, reorder and switch tabs, each with its own page and back/forward history.
- Omnibox: Type a URL, a domain or a search, with a choice of search engines or your own template.
- Wisp server: Use the built-in Wisp endpoint or any other Wisp server, with a status dot showing its latency.
- History and bookmarks: Your history and bookmarks stay in your browser and show up on the New Tab page.
- Session restore: The tabs you had open last time come back when you return.
- Cloaking: Open Phosphur in an about:blank tab, disguise the tab, and set a panic key that leaves for a safe page.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Alt-key shortcuts open, close and switch tabs, even inside open pages.
- Install as an app: Phosphur can be installed as a PWA.
- Docker: A Dockerfile builds and runs the whole site in one container, with a health check that Docker and hosts like Coolify can read.
- Cloudflare WARP: An optional Compose file routes the server's traffic through Cloudflare WARP, so sites see a Cloudflare IP instead of yours; see the README.
Improved
- Design: The blue Mica look returns with translucent Windows 11-style surfaces in dark and light themes.
