Verified WPF target support for .NET 9, .NET 10 and .NET Framework 4.8.1,
retaining .NET 8 and Framework 4.7.2/4.8. One shared compatibility matrix drives
24 target/architecture/hosting combinations: x86/x64, self-hosting/auto-injection.
Modern runtime versions are checked in the running process.
Installed-NuGet coverage for all 12 target/architecture combinations, including
inspection, AutomationId actions and exported xUnit replay. Advanced grid/tree,
validation, property streams and window/lifecycle tests run from .NET 8, 9 and
10 consumers against every target. CI installs all required modern runtimes.
Fixed
The CoreCLR Inspector runtime configuration now declares its actual .NET 8
minimum, with major-version roll-forward for .NET 9 and 10 target processes.
The x86 injection helper can roll forward to .NET 9/10 when .NET 8 is absent.
Launching x86 applications from an x64 test runner no longer inherits the
runner's generic DOTNET_ROOT. Architecture-specific roots and explicit launch
overrides are preserved. Exported xUnit tests use the SDK's owned launch API
for readiness, cross-architecture runtime resolution and cleanup.
Compatibility
WPF targets: .NET Framework 4.7.2/4.8/4.8.1 and .NET 8/9/10, Windows x86/x64.
SDK consumers: .NET 8/9/10. Framework 4.x target builds are tested on the
installed 4.8.1 runtime (in-place servicing), not separate side-by-side runtimes.
The existing API and net8.0 SDK asset remain unchanged.
