Why not putting branch 2.2 as the default one ? It works with this version.

My install steps just for information:

wget ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/pcre-8.38.tar.bz2
tar -xjf pcre-8.38.tar.bz2
git clone -b 2.2 https://github.com/vkholodkov/nginx-upload-module
cd nginx-1.8.1/
./configure --prefix=/opt/nginx --with-http_ssl_module --add-module=../nginx-upload-module --with-pcre=../pcre-8.38/
sudo make
sudo make install

but, in my nignx config: upload_limit_rate 128k; it's useless
