Monet 0.1.0

One brain for you and your agents. A quiet, local-first Markdown vault:
a rich desktop app for the person thinking, and a CLI and MCP server for the
agents helping. Your notes stay as plain .md files in a folder you own —
no proprietary database, no cloud, no lock-in.

Install the CLI — one line

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/felipebarcelospro/monet/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

Windows (PowerShell):

irm https://github.com/felipebarcelospro/monet/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iex

Then point it at your notes:

monet vault use ~/Documents/Vault
monet vault current
monet note list

The installer picks the right build for your system, verifies the SHA-256
checksum and installs to ~/.local/bin (set MONET_INSTALL_DIR to install
somewhere else). You never need to download the .gz files by hand — they
are the per-platform payloads the installer fetches for you.

Also available: brew install felipebarcelospro/tap/monet (Homebrew) and
npm install -g @monet-ai/cli (npm, needs Node >= 22).

Highlights

  • Desktop app (Electron + React 19 + CodeMirror 6) with a warm-paper interface, inspector, command palette and reading view.
  • Markdown tables, task lists, images, video, audio, file attachments, Mermaid diagrams, KaTeX math, syntax-highlighted code, callouts, note embeds and clickable tasks.
  • Vault engine for wikilinks, backlinks, aliases, tags, search and a deterministic graph.
  • CLI for notes, search, links, tags, graph export, vault selection, local backups (monet backup) and opening the app.
  • Safety: vault-confined writes, symlink checks, revision conflict detection between the app and agents.
  • MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex and any MCP client, plus an agent skill in English, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. From the next release on, monet skills add installs skills generated from the command declarations — nothing to author or keep in sync by hand.

Unsigned builds. On macOS, right-click the app and choose Open the
first time (or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway). On
Windows, SmartScreen offers More info → Run anyway. Building from source is
always an option:
