v0.3.0 — Pixie, memory providers, Windows preview
Highlights
- Pixie, an always-on assistant that is not tied to any project. It handles non-project tasks itself and hands project work to that project's sessions, with tools to follow up on them: live status (running / waiting for you / errored), open todos, activity summaries, file-change lookup, creating sessions in a project, sending steer / follow-up messages, stopping sessions, and renaming them. Messages Pixie sends on your behalf are marked in the target session. Pixie is notified when delegated work finishes and reports back, with bounded automatic follow-up. It appears in the sidebar and the tab bar, and the files pane browses its private workspace.
- Memory providers: choose between bundled local memory (pi-memory, pure local Markdown), Lore (SaaS or self-hosted), or off. Existing Lore setups are detected automatically.
- Windows (preview): the session daemon runs over a per-user named pipe, with Windows-aware secure state, process lifecycle and paths. Startup is verified on real Windows runners; parts of the unit-test suite are still being hardened for Windows.
- Composer attachments: images and files attached in the composer are stored under
~/.pi/pix/attachments/<session>/instead of the project directory, and the agent receives their absolute paths. The file pane's upload button still writes into the project.
Changes
- Every bundled agent capability (subagents, todo, ask, smart compaction, pi-memory, Lore 1.5.1) is pinned and vendored, and declared once in a capability registry that drives loading, settings and the tools page. A user-installed copy of the same plugin never double-loads inside Pix.
- Session and project pin/archive live in one sessiond-owned workspace state and sync live across devices.
- New shared status markers for sessions and tabs: running, waiting for you (new: an unanswered question card), and error.
- Settings: a single smart-compaction switch (Pi's own compaction always stays on as the backstop), a memory page, and iOS-style capability rows.
- New-session page entry "Ask Pixie", and a refreshed, outline-free control style across the composer, menus and settings.
Fixed
- Sending after the page sat idle or in the background no longer fails: the connection is probed on wake, and a failed send reconnects and resends once with the same operation id (never twice).
- Pi system-prompt snapshot entries no longer render as
unknowncards. - Mobile: the context popover stays on screen, and closing a composer popover no longer summons the keyboard.
- Sending to a session no longer fails while its background subagents or side chat are streaming (only real conversation changes invalidate a send).
- The status tab and the composer now read as one shape: no stray corner on the left, no seam under the tab, and a continuous focus outline. The tab no longer jumps when expanding.
- Security hardening from a pre-release review: Lore "test connection" never sends the saved token to another origin, Pixie's per-turn quotas reserve before executing, sessiond-side authorization guards for Pixie's write channel, workspace state is fsynced, and Windows pipe names are hashed per directory and user.
