Changing the server address

Announcement: Aardwolf is moving to a new server. Please help test it.

For a short time only, we have a temporary copy of Aardwolf set up to test moving to our new server at address mud3.aardmud.org port 23 (or 4000 if your network requires it). Please help us out by using the following instructions to connect there. Note #1426 on the Announce board has more information.

You can change which server address your MUSHclient connects to. This is useful for connecting to different instances of Aardwolf, like for example our testing and area building environment (also called the test port).

Instructions

NOTE: If you want to be connected to multiple servers at the same time, the simplest option is to first clone your MUSHclient folder and then make the following changes in only one of them.

First, either press Alt+1 or go to the "Game" menu and choose "Configure" and then "MUD Name/IP address...".

Opening the address configuration screen

A configuration window will appear with a section containing the MUD address and port number.

Finding the address and port number

In these images I am switching from the main game server to the test/build server by changing the address from aardmud.org to build.aardmud.org and the port from 23 to 6555. Once you've edited the address and/or port as desired, press the return or enter on your keyboard or click the OK button on the configuration screen to save your change.

Saving your changes

Then disconnect and reconnect to connect to the new address. One way to do this is by going to the "Connection" menu and choosing "Disconnect" and then going back and choosing "Connect". Depending on your system configuration, you may also be able to press Shift+Control+K and then Control+K.
